Was thinking of booking a house in two weekends at Agate Bay. Anyone stayed in one? Or have any advice? I'm bringing the old ball and chain so I'm looking for something nice!

Haven't stayed in one of their houses, but I go out of Agate Bay a lot. They have awesome roads, and most of their houses are close to shore; mainly Agate Bay Reef. The bathroom/shower facility on shore is great to run into to use a real bathroom (nice for the ladies), and the breakfast in the morning is my favorite. I believe they also have bathrooms on the ice by each rental, but like I said I have never stayed in a rental.

The downsides that I hear about most are that they are sometimes late to the party in getting their houses out. This year I am hopeful that the fishing will be better, but last winter it was a pretty slow everywhere on the lake (not sure if you knew that or not).

I have stayed in their houses and I go out of the resort very frequently. The standard houses are nice and clean. The Premiere houses are extremely nice and have plenty of amenities. I would personally save the money and go with the standard house. The houses will be on good structure. The roads are always well maintained.

The only downside of the rental house is you may be close to other anglers. Last time I stayed in one of their houses it was close to others, but we got some nice walleyes.

Sometimes, if they are not booked they will cut you a deal on a rental. One time I called on Friday night and they took money off a rental the next day.

      application has been submitted. 👍   Leech......i've shot my share of bear......it be nice to get another but not the end of the world if i dont. i get to spend time with my son...its just another way to get into the woods. i've been at it since about 1976......that rush when you walk up to the bait and see the logs scattered all over and bait gone just doesnt get old for me.   i had to get rid of 1 rug because of bad tanning. i have another rug, shoulder mount and made 3 pillows from 2 different bear hides. my biggest issue has become what to do with the hide....that seems more of a trophy then the meat. i inquired 1 year at the Alex decoy show when there were a couple hide guys there and they didnt seem to interested. 🙄 i have no other ideas for the hide.......approval from the wife is not even negotiable!!!!!

      Something in May, like around Opener.  Could be white knuckles for boaters that weekend with the way things stalled out since the contest started and how thick it still is.   Highs in the 50’s coming but lows are around freezing and not a lot of wind in the extended forecast.   I’ll tell  ya what, if you change from 4/26 and it hits that date, I’ll buy ya some mythical FM beer.  And you know where you can find it. 😉. But don’t change on my account - this is still a free country!

      I caught the 10pm news the other night. They said that starting next week Minnesota will be above average for temps. I give them a 33% chance of getting that right.
