Island lake near Linwood

Anyone ice fish this lake? I am thinking of checking it out, can you get to the lake from the county park? any hazards to be concerned about?

Yes you can fish the lake, just go down the road that leads to the beach. I don't think you can use a four wheeler though. I have fished it a few times lots of crappies but not much for size.

She used to have some real slab crappies but they all got taken out some years back. There are tons of small sunnies to go along with the small crappies

Used to be my first ice trip every year. Down in a hole, it always froze first. Should really give it a shot again. Not been there in 15 years. Caught small eyes back then too. Fingerlings. Occasional slab. Hammer handles.

Can be a real boom or bust lake. When it is on it holds a nice panfish population. In recent years the fish have been stunted and small with a few bucket fish mixed in. Always worth a shot. If you get on some decent fish, you may well want to keep it to yourself as these small lakes get beat up pretty bad when the word gets out.
