Curious if anyone would be interested in some fishing today. I have my mind set on a couple lakes I'd like to try or stick with the one I've had my best luck on. I live in zimmerman and could meet anyone around the area. It would be nice to meet some of the people from the forum here.

I would but I am stuck in St Cloud for a while

Posted

I'll be heading out early afternoon. You familiar with zimmerman and the lakes around?

Posted

I might be interested, thought I had stuff to do today, but fishing comes first

Posted

Well as stated before I will most likely be hitting my favorite spot for some crappies or if river rat or monster moose have other suggestions please feel free to message me

I know the area lakes fairly well smile I am trying like crazy to get out of this Library, but it is not working so well. Riverrat only thinks he knows the lakes. HAHA Mr. Riverrat

Posted

I will admit I like to ride on Moose's coat tails during ice fishing.....lol he's so big he don't even notice me back there getting a free ride!!

Posted

Oh boy hahaha. Well good thing these walks are fairly short to the good fishing spots. I'm thinking around 2 I'm heading out

I am going to give the library until noon for my group member to show up and then I am out of here and will be fishing. I will keep you all posted and where I am thinking of going. I might not notice you under the Riverrat, but the old guys on blue lake would see you. That way you can deal with them

Posted

Well if your hot spot is out on Blue, look for the fat guy with a New Fatfish 949i swearing up a storm trying to figure out how to set the thing up....lol that is where I am going, don't know where I am setting up at, we will let the fish decide that!!

Let me know what access and you might see a big fat guy pulling his gear out and this ones house is the Jason Mitchell Flip over.

Posted

I'll for sure head out to blue. Let me know what access and a time you may be heading out. I have not tried it yet this year but fished a lot out there last year

Posted

I'm walking out from the steep access. Will be in a black camo otter fold over.

Ok I am not taking my house because it is not to bad out. I think that is where RiverRat is going too. I will go there as well. I will be pulling a black sled with my stuff in it and wearing a camo coat it is a duck camo pattern. See you on the lake.

Sounds good

Does blue have nice fish in it? I always go to green. Never really figured to try blue when green is so close

Posted

It does. Good sized crappies and sunfish. If your lucky a nice walleye will show up. I caught a 22 incher out here last year and put it back into the lake.

Posted

Wish I could join you guys. I can't get home until after dark.

Might be out there tomorrow since it's going to be so nice. Good luck!!!

Posted

they both have relatively the same size crappies and personally I find bigger sunnies in green but blue does have some decent sunnies in it. You have a better chance at a walleye in Green but there are some in Blue. Northerns I would go to Green. Both lakes get pounded in the winter but green has more area to spread and fish and be successful where blue has a few areas but usually get so packed it effects the bite...green gets this way but you can move and find active fish in secluded areas.

I did not see you out there. I did find River rat. Caught a few gills and crappies. I sure needed the fishing time. I would have like to meet you, but we will get more chances. I hope you did well

Posted

I'd really like to get out to the hump on the south side tomorrow, but a long walk from the SE access even.

Posted

I would also like to meet up with some of you on the lake. Thinking I may head south today going to bring wheeler if out I have a camo wheeler and in camo suit.

What do you think I have been doing Eyeguy? I have been busting my butt try get it done. These group projects have been killing me. I hate group work. Next week is the last week of classes then finals week follows. Then I the quest will be in full swing. Eyeguy you finding some places for me? I have some locations, but I have not put in a full day of bouncing around looking for the MONSTER GILLS. I did get out for little bit yesterday. I met up with river rat and we found a few gills but nothing big enough for me. They were all smaller than my hand.

Good Luck to those who get out today. I wish I could go to meet you on the ice.

I wanted to go fishing on Sunday but by wonderful group decided we need to meet after I get done volunteering. I how like them so much. I hope you find some fish Eyeguy.

Sorry I missed both you and river rat that day.. I was sitting out off the point to the right of the steep access in about 25 FOW. Hopped around trying some holes I punched and managed to catch 3 crappies sitting in my house. No size to them. I went to Green last night and managed my limit of 10.5+ inch crappies. Fun while it lasted. The Bite was very fast action. That storm front had to do something with ut

Sounds like you found them !! Green is known for having better sized crappies and more walleyes. I went to the point to the south or left. I caught perch. Well soon classes will be over and it will be go time. I hope to meet you sometime good luck dwoolley

Posted

Green has always been my hot spot. The crappies can be caught anywhere on that lake. Everyone sits on the point by both accesses, but I've had great luck throughout the entire lake.

Moose, I got you a spot for the hunt, let me know when you want to get out, no EYEGUY though, I don't need those stinky NODAKS honing in on my technique.......lol

In those years Polaris was known to put buna tipped needles in there sleds. They get a ring around the seat and don't seal shut. But if that would be the case your problem would be with the motor shut off and filling the crankcase with gas. If your plugs are brown that is were they should be. I wouldn't drop that needle down to the last grove. I would replace them before I did that. I have never had a carb with that setting. Have you looked at your clutches? They could be dirty or have a bad roller.  Does it bog as it's accelerating or when you hit the throttle?

but if he really wants I can change the date..
    • Wanderer
As soon as I started reading mind went to needles and seats.  You might want to try just replacing those first?  I’ve only done that once before in my life but it made the difference.  A carb refresh in 8,000 miles seems reasonable.

Good luck smurfy!  On getting drawn, I mean!   If it comes down to it, I know a guy that might be interested in a nice hide.

My 30 year-old Indy 500 (over 8,000 miles) has been having a mid-range bog for many years now.  It is worse on warm days and when the engine is warmer.  The sled runs fine up to about 1/4 throttle, then runs extremely rich up to 3/4 throttle.  The spark plugs are dark brown (better brown than down?) but not saturated.  8 years ago I moved the clips on the jet needles from the 3rd to the 2nd groove to lean the mixture and it helped for a while.   Should I move the clips to the top groove (temporary solution)? Could the jet needles, needle jets, and/or the main jets be warn and need replacement?   Don't think I will have time to tear the carbs apart this season for a rebuild so I may just band-aid the problem.

I think that Mike89 picked April 26 two hours before you, jparrucci.  Is that correct Mike89?

My last hide I gave to my Taxidermist friend to make what ever he liked out of it.   I've got a few fun Bear hunt stories to be told.  All 3 of us our first year stupidly tracking a blood trail in the dark together and getting lost, luckily smelled the bait making circles and got out. 🫣 Flash lights dying, deep in a swamp following a blood trail in the dark, the one who stayed at the bait called us back in!  We learned our second bear! Lol. 😞  Downing a wounded charging bear with the last bullet when tracking, no lie! 😬    Have had my fun!  🥳

I remember that kegel… stuff….!   just finished my post work latte as a matter of fact!  Only the second case of those I’ve ever bought.     I’d get Mike something better.
    • jparrucci
I still have hope. Put me down for my dad's birthday in April 26. Come on warm weather.
