Tablet for fishing/hunting

I'm considering buying a new tablet. I currently have an old kindle. I would like to get one that works well with lake maps and different fishing or hunting apps. My phone works ok but the screen is pretty small, and my eyes aren't getting better. Do the tablets even work with the lake maps? (ie: do they have a built in gps) I'd like to know what others' experiences have been with the various tablets while using the different apps. Thanks.

I can whole-heartedly recommend the Nexus 7 2013 - it's fairly inexpensive, has a beautiful screen, and comes with a GPS built in (which is not the case with iPad's unless you get an LTE version - $$$). And this is coming from an iPhone user - I wouldn't trade my Nexus for anything! Add an OTG cable and SD card reader and you have a great tablet for viewing game cam pics as well.

I use the sonar phone setup with my ipad. Basically with a little tinkering i placed the components from a sonarphone and rigged them up to a blank Vexilar pack. I have navionics on it for the summer which is an amazing $14.99 for ND/MN/NE,SD. I also mounted a bluetooth speaker to it in case the fishing gets slow and the drinking picks up.

I use the B&N HD nook 9 in for fishing in the wheel house paired the vex WiFi camera download movies to take along and music and use a little blue tooth speaker in the house. all work very good.
