Big Sandy

Hi Guys,

Going to make the trip up to Big Sandy this weekend. Anyone have an ice report? Planning on calling a few bait shops too. Any tactics or tips are appricated (colors, size, jig, dead stick). Thanks for the help.

HotToddyTipUp- I was on BSL last weekend. Found between 7"-10" of ice. I would imagine that last nights cold weather is making more. I walked out, but the guys who set up next to me drove a wheeler. Another guy pulled his small wheel house out with a wheeler. I can't say it's safe for venturing around the lake since the bay I was fishing was wide open a week prior. There are pressure ridges forming on the lake, so stay clear of them. Fishing was so-so, better than working! Good Luck. Let us know how you do!

Thanks Bluffs. We should be good on the ice as we will be walking down from my buddies cabin. Hope to get into some fish, dont really care what they are.

That is why I like BSL. It's like fishing the river. You never know what you are going to pull up. Good luck and have fun!

Are there special types of structure I should look for? We will either be in a super deep bay, south of the island or out by hillcrest. I saw some interesting areas on my lake map out in front of hillcrest. Don’t need the GPS coordinates, just looking to have a good time. Thanks
