Have you been out to Green? Thinking of going tomorrow out just off the public launch area on the breakline. Anybody know how the ice is?

Posted

I'm heading out there this morning. Look for the blue clam denali..I heard reports of 5-6" last weekend so I would assume 7+" but check as you go

Posted

8 inches of clear ice yesterday

Posted

8" of good ice. I snowmobiled out. One of the best crappie days I had out there. Couldn't even get my jig down there before my bobber would go down!

Posted

Green lake has a good 10.5 inches of ice as of last night. Smaller trucks and suvs are out there.

Posted

fish are biting too

Posted

Way to early for driving, 10.5" is about 3-4" short of what I need to drive a small vehicle on

There are always thinner spots on Green!! I am just saying.

I am looking for the day Green lake hits 12 inches of ice! Anyone know how close it is?

Posted

WHen i was out there on saturday there was about 10.5, so i would say its very close to that, this warm up will not help that though.

Posted

Can anyone comment on how the ice is looking after this warm stretch? I'm thinking it's not looking too good...

When I was out on Saturday, I was on 10.5" over 24 FOW. Four wheelers everywhere and, there was a Ford F150 out there... to thin for a truck if you ask me. I left around 7:00pm and checked thickness in a lot of open holes. Found 8"-10.5" of ice with a lot of standing water on top, 1"-2" in a lot of places. Another warm day on Sunday, and I would think the standing water started to really eat at the ice. Pretty sketchy right now after this warm spell. I'll probably wait til the weekend to go again.

I will be going out tomorrow with a couple members from here, so I can give a report. Bring a buddy or 2 if you go out please and bring all the safety gear.

Posted

And it always blows my mind every year, but why is there always some I D I O T out in a vehicle waaay too heavy for the ice thickness? I sometimes feel like they are putting my life at risk right along with theirs when they drive close to me...

Posted

They were driving trucks all around the lake, 2 weeks ago when i was sitting on only 10 inches of ice, out of their minds if you ask me.

I hear ya! I've been in your boat, when Idiots are cruising by and you are actually freightened by it. I don't drive any vehicles on less than 12 inches of soild ice.

Has anyone been out on Green lately? Just wondering what the thickness is with all of this warm weather we have been having. Any spots on the lake to avoid? Hoping to head out there tomorrow.

This snow is going to hide some of the dangers. Be careful and go slow. Take a friend with and safety gear.

In those years Polaris was known to put buna tipped needles in there sleds. They get a ring around the seat and don't seal shut. But if that would be the case your problem would be with the motor shut off and filling the crankcase with gas. If your plugs are brown that is were they should be. I wouldn't drop that needle down to the last grove. I would replace them before I did that. I have never had a carb with that setting. Have you looked at your clutches? They could be dirty or have a bad roller.  Does it bog as it's accelerating or when you hit the throttle?

but if he really wants I can change the date..

As soon as I started reading mind went to needles and seats.  You might want to try just replacing those first?  I’ve only done that once before in my life but it made the difference.  A carb refresh in 8,000 miles seems reasonable.

Good luck smurfy!  On getting drawn, I mean!   If it comes down to it, I know a guy that might be interested in a nice hide.

My 30 year-old Indy 500 (over 8,000 miles) has been having a mid-range bog for many years now.  It is worse on warm days and when the engine is warmer.  The sled runs fine up to about 1/4 throttle, then runs extremely rich up to 3/4 throttle.  The spark plugs are dark brown (better brown than down?) but not saturated.  8 years ago I moved the clips on the jet needles from the 3rd to the 2nd groove to lean the mixture and it helped for a while.   Should I move the clips to the top groove (temporary solution)? Could the jet needles, needle jets, and/or the main jets be warn and need replacement?   Don't think I will have time to tear the carbs apart this season for a rebuild so I may just band-aid the problem.

I think that Mike89 picked April 26 two hours before you, jparrucci.  Is that correct Mike89?

My last hide I gave to my Taxidermist friend to make what ever he liked out of it.   I've got a few fun Bear hunt stories to be told.  All 3 of us our first year stupidly tracking a blood trail in the dark together and getting lost, luckily smelled the bait making circles and got out. 🫣 Flash lights dying, deep in a swamp following a blood trail in the dark, the one who stayed at the bait called us back in!  We learned our second bear! Lol. 😞  Downing a wounded charging bear with the last bullet when tracking, no lie! 😬    Have had my fun!  🥳

I remember that kegel… stuff….!   just finished my post work latte as a matter of fact!  Only the second case of those I’ve ever bought.     I’d get Mike something better.

I still have hope. Put me down for my dad's birthday in April 26. Come on warm weather.
