line twist help I'm frustrated HELP!

OK so i watched my lures today and they spin and spin and spin. I have pre stretched the line by hand to no avail. then i put new line on I'm using 2-4# trilene ice line. I have watched the video's how to spool up. watched a ice team presentation of what to do. I have also used a barrel swivel which didn't help either. I just bought some 3# fireline ice. and flourocarbon 3# I'm gonna try. can i tie these direct or do I need to use a swivel If I do I dont see myself changing jigs much. If you use a mono leader don't you loose the benifit if feel? I've busted several eyelets reeling in to far. I'm at wits end I had fish on the camera my buddy had. he caught fish after fish mine just sat and spun like a top I do believe I found why I dont catch much please help

If your buddy was catching all the fish I guess I would have been copying what he was doing. Seriously though how was his setup different than yours? I started using a spro swivel last year and while it didn't eliminate spin it did slow it down.

Try a fly reel for your ice fishing it has helped me a lot when fishing with lighter lines. Otherwise tie a good/small crane swivel up your line a few feet.

He had the same rod and reel as me and he said he had 4# mono on. Did you find with the swivel you got more fish.

those fly reels I had one but it took for ever to get down 15 feet or so stripping line down is that how you do it by hand their is no free spool persay is there?

Honestly I really don't think it made a difference. I wasn't having problems catching panfish prior to that but noticed a lot of spin one day at the top of the hole and went to the swivel. I think some days if they're in a real negative mood it might help. Probably just gives me a little more confidence and that's about it.

Tie a ball bearing swivel on then from there tie about 8 inches or so of line from that, then your lure.

because a jig creates a right angle with your line when you send your jig down it twists your line not sure how a fly reel or some of the other 'solutions' would change that and I have not found a swivel that can keep up with the twist. When you use a spoon the lure is more in line with the line and you have less of a problem. If you constantly jiggle the jig the spin stops. Some people sit over one hole all night and they also do not have a problem, the lure is sent down it spins for a while and then it stops spinning.

Good Luck

My 30 year-old Indy 500 (over 8,000 miles) has been having a mid-range bog for many years now.  It is worse on warm days and when the engine is warmer.  The sled runs fine up to about 1/4 throttle, then runs extremely rich up to 3/4 throttle.  The spark plugs are dark brown (better brown than down?) but not saturated.  8 years ago I moved the clips on the jet needles from the 3rd to the 2nd groove to lean the mixture and it helped for a while.   Should I move the clips to the top groove (temporary solution)? Could the jet needles, needle jets, and/or the main jets be warn and need replacement?   Don't think I will have time to tear the carbs apart this season for a rebuild so I may just band-aid the problem.

I think that Mike89 picked April 26 two hours before you, jparrucci.  Is that correct Mike89?

My last hide I gave to my Taxidermist friend to make what ever he liked out of it.   I've got a few fun Bear hunt stories to be told.  All 3 of us our first year stupidly tracking a blood trail in the dark together and getting lost, luckily smelled the bait making circles and got out. 🫣 Flash lights dying, deep in a swamp following a blood trail in the dark, the one who stayed at the bait called us back in!  We learned our second bear! Lol. 😞  Downing a wounded charging bear with the last bullet when tracking, no lie! 😬    Have had my fun!  🥳

I remember that kegel… stuff….!   just finished my post work latte as a matter of fact!  Only the second case of those I’ve ever bought.     I’d get Mike something better.

application has been submitted. 👍   Leech......i've shot my share of bear......it be nice to get another but not the end of the world if i dont. i get to spend time with my son...its just another way to get into the woods. i've been at it since about 1976......that rush when you walk up to the bait and see the logs scattered all over and bait gone just doesnt get old for me.   i had to get rid of 1 rug because of bad tanning. i have another rug, shoulder mount and made 3 pillows from 2 different bear hides. my biggest issue has become what to do with the hide....that seems more of a trophy then the meat. i inquired 1 year at the Alex decoy show when there were a couple hide guys there and they didnt seem to interested. 🙄 i have no other ideas for the hide.......approval from the wife is not even negotiable!!!!!

Something in May, like around Opener.  Could be white knuckles for boaters that weekend with the way things stalled out since the contest started and how thick it still is.   Highs in the 50’s coming but lows are around freezing and not a lot of wind in the extended forecast.   I’ll tell  ya what, if you change from 4/26 and it hits that date, I’ll buy ya some mythical FM beer.  And you know where you can find it. 😉. But don’t change on my account - this is still a free country!

I caught the 10pm news the other night. They said that starting next week Minnesota will be above average for temps. I give them a 33% chance of getting that right.
