Have and old rod from twenty years ago. Any spinning reel i put on it causes tue rod blank itself to jump with each rotation of the spool. Even with the smallet reel. Looking at trying an n lne reel, whats a qquality in line reel. For around fifty bucks

Gander is blowing out the wicked 6061 for fity bucks. Don't own one..... but probably the best one out there for that price, it was a hundred ish when it came out. Think it is online only.

I just bought this to put on a new custom rod. Can't wait, it feels very well made. I own and have used both of the Eagle Claw inlines last season. I really like their more expensive option (Black w/ Red Spool).

I'd recommend going with the Eagle Claw inline reel for $24.99. I've used it for two seasons now and love it. Drag system works well and love the free spool feature. However, No. 8 Company makes an inline this year for $34.99 that looks good too and is getting good reviews so far.

I picked up 4 of the black Betty,s from gander and I'm very happy after my one short use. Very nice reel for that price

I am waiting for the new "housed" units to drop in price. That will be sweet. I personally lack the focus and attention to detail needed to effectively operate the others smile

The new Frabill Straight Line 371 is perfect for anyone thinking of trying this style of fishing reel. For those in tune with this style of ice fishing, you'll enjoy the upgrades Frabill made with the 371.

I just got off the ice for the first time this year and my first fish was a 17" bass on my noodle rod with an eagle claw inline reel spooled with 2 lb and I must say the drag worked better than I thought it would.

which of the inlines can you reel right handed?

You can flip the one way bearing over in the eagle claw reels. I don't know about other brands.

I know you can do this with the Black Betty 6061 (last years model) as well.

Put 4 Frabill 261's on some of my rigs last year and they worked like a charm. The easy free spooling, star drag, and GREATLY reduced line twist really impressed me. You can get them now for around 40$

I think that Mike89 picked April 26 two hours before you, jparrucci.  Is that correct Mike89?

My last hide I gave to my Taxidermist friend to make what ever he liked out of it.   I've got a few fun Bear hunt stories to be told.  All 3 of us our first year stupidly tracking a blood trail in the dark together and getting lost, luckily smelled the bait making circles and got out. 🫣 Flash lights dying, deep in a swamp following a blood trail in the dark, the one who stayed at the bait called us back in!  We learned our second bear! Lol. 😞  Downing a wounded charging bear with the last bullet when tracking, no lie! 😬    Have had my fun!  🥳

I remember that kegel… stuff….!   just finished my post work latte as a matter of fact!  Only the second case of those I’ve ever bought.     I’d get Mike something better.

application has been submitted. 👍   Leech......i've shot my share of bear......it be nice to get another but not the end of the world if i dont. i get to spend time with my son...its just another way to get into the woods. i've been at it since about 1976......that rush when you walk up to the bait and see the logs scattered all over and bait gone just doesnt get old for me.   i had to get rid of 1 rug because of bad tanning. i have another rug, shoulder mount and made 3 pillows from 2 different bear hides. my biggest issue has become what to do with the hide....that seems more of a trophy then the meat. i inquired 1 year at the Alex decoy show when there were a couple hide guys there and they didnt seem to interested. 🙄 i have no other ideas for the hide.......approval from the wife is not even negotiable!!!!!

Something in May, like around Opener.  Could be white knuckles for boaters that weekend with the way things stalled out since the contest started and how thick it still is.   Highs in the 50’s coming but lows are around freezing and not a lot of wind in the extended forecast.   I’ll tell  ya what, if you change from 4/26 and it hits that date, I’ll buy ya some mythical FM beer.  And you know where you can find it. 😉. But don’t change on my account - this is still a free country!

I caught the 10pm news the other night. They said that starting next week Minnesota will be above average for temps. I give them a 33% chance of getting that right.
