I'm curious. I shoot a PSE that I like a lot. It is not the newest fanciest bow but I like it.

So, I'm wondering, just for fun, what brand everyone shoots and why? If I knew how I'd put a poll up... for you to vote.

I'm guessing Matthews will be the most common, they seem to really have a big share of the market of guys I know, but I wonder if that is true outside my circle?

I shoot a PSE as well. As long as your stick hits the Deer well it doesn't have to be the newest most expensive bow on the market! wink

Have a PSE and Bear and an old browning my bowfishing bow I haven't used in a couple years, my wife shoots a mission

I shoot a Mission (so pretty much a Mathews). I like it, but I can't say I love it. I've been looking at getting a hoyt. Maybe I'll get it myself for a christmas gift!

45 year old Bear Takedown here - sentimental bow!

I shoot a Matthews Denalin. Probably will continue to for sometime, just seems like the right bow for me.

PSE Evo.

Why did I pick it? Because I got it brand new for $400.... I wasnt shopping for any brand really. All bows now are good stuff. I found the deal, shot the bow, it felt good. And my pocketbook really loved it. smile

And truthfully, it is fun to shoot and feels very nice to shoot.

Last 2 bows have been a Matthews. My most current is 3 years old, whatever model was new 3 years ago is what I have now. I cant keep up with all the name changes they have.

I shot a PSE before going to Mathews and I was happy with that bow also.

Funny thing is, they will all shoot a deer for a archer, just a bit of practice.

I shoot about a 10 year old Matthews switchback. I love the bow, but I feel guilty I don't get enough time with it, for what I paid for it!

Mathews Helim. Shot all the brands liked it the best. I busted a cam my own fault this fall and took it to the dealer and had it fixed new cam no charge from Mathews in 3 days. Great bow.

Elite Pure. When its time for a new bow, I'll try and shoot as many as I can and pick what feels best.

I shoot a Hoyt.

Had it for 8 or 9 years.

Works great.

Only bow I have ever had.

Diamond Rock 2.0. Was good value, lightweight and small, and it shoots nice. I am still rookie though, but it will likely be years before I get anything else.

Bowtech Insanity. Had a PSE prior, love the bow, its been good to me, it will be my bow for many years.

Mission Riot. BC

Hoyt RampageXT

Mine is a 2008 Mission. I really like it. Have wacked quite a few deer with it.

Z7 extreme for me. Think it weighs more than they claim but its killed the two

deer I shot at with it.

Elite and Bowtech have been my brands.

Mathews DXT. Smooth, quiet, light, deadly.

I've shot both Hoyt and Bowtech for the past two decades. I've had the last three Bowtechs to come out, mostly because I was on staff with Scheels and that was one of the brands I could shoot. They cancelled their staff program last year, so I'm not as "locked into" Bowtech as I was previously.

I'm shooting the Bowtech Experience from last year still. I like this bow quite a bit- I like the draw cycle, it's reasonably fast, and is quiet.

I loved my old switchback. I wish I still had it. I got rid of it when my wife bought me a new Z7 as a wedding present in 2010. I like the Z7 too. I'm sure I Will have it for a long time. It draws nice, and I can shoot it well. I've taken quite a few critters with it already. I look forward to many more.

Have a Hoyt Vectrix XL as backup to my Hoyt Maxxis 35. I won a Mathews Drenalin a few years ago, took it elk hunting, then sold it and bought the Maxxis 35. So I'm a Hoyt fanboy I guess. I originally started buying Hoyts cause I thought they were the most durable and reliable bow out there. But truthfully, they're all good, and I kind of regret selling that Drenny.

Those flooding problems are a sign of your needle and seat are leaking.  If the needle has a ring around the tip you can clean it if it's brass. If it has a black rubber tip then it needs to be replaced. You can clean the needle and seat with things like rubbing compound or even toothpaste I use a product called Semi chrome. It for polishing die pins. Just clean them up after polishing.

All of those Polaris sleds from that era were notorious for flooding and leaking. I've still got a 2003 XCSP 600 Edge that my daughter rides. As you noted, you need to shut off the fuel in those situations.

Yes, but it could make for an amazing walleye opener.

How old is your belt?   My old Polaris 4 wheeler with belt drive was bogging at mid range to top end last year.  Changed the belt and that problem went away.

Previous owner (22 years and 5,000 miles ago) said it was prone to flooding when sitting for a long time or trailering, so I shut the fuel off in both cases.   Primary is significantly worn.  I replaced several rollers and pins which helped.  I have two used clutches in much better condition that I could (and should) install.   It seems more like when I hit the throttle, but the bog could be from poor clutch shifting.  Will have to pay attention next time and inspect the clutches.  Thanks for the ideas.

Nope, he beat me fair and square, all his.  This weather had been depressing. As it sits now we are looking at a later than normal ice out. I hate scrabbling with docks, lifts, boats right before opener. Also limits some pre opener crappie chances.

In those years Polaris was known to put buna tipped needles in there sleds. They get a ring around the seat and don't seal shut. But if that would be the case your problem would be with the motor shut off and filling the crankcase with gas. If your plugs are brown that is were they should be. I wouldn't drop that needle down to the last grove. I would replace them before I did that. I have never had a carb with that setting. Have you looked at your clutches? They could be dirty or have a bad roller.  Does it bog as it's accelerating or when you hit the throttle?
