Do you guys have better luck letting your favorite decoys just sit, or flying around often. I have a hard time letting them sit for very long because they look so cool soaring through the water. But for me anyways, it seems like I see more if I just let it be.

It depends. They get beat up more if you jig em. But they sneak in and offer a better shot if they are left alone.

I do seem to swim mine a little more then most to bring in active fish, but leave them sit when a fish is in the area

I let mine sit will give them a pop every once in awhile, if they come in and don't seem to interested and swim off I will give them a few pops to see if they come back or not

I can't resist yanking the cord and yes they get hit. My highest percentage of successful throws comes when you barely move the decoy and they come in out of curiosity.

I don't let mine sit still for very long, I change them often too. There is just something about seeing them chase and smash the decoy that I love.

Haha!!!! That's because the only thing better than a decoy that just came off the drying rack is one with fresh teeth marks in it. grin

Knowing you carved something good enough to attack and eat is icing on the cake.

yeah, I tend to jig them more then I probably should most days.

I start out using the decoys fast and then let the fish tell me what they want. if no fish show up then it means I wasn't supposed to get one that day and nothing would of worked for me. grin

If keep them moving, than you are not sleeping. looking down a hole with nothing moving is boring. wink

I don't think it matters most of the time. Pike let you knoe what they want and if they are on they are on.

Best way to attract a pike is to pick up your phone or change the radio station. They always show up then.....

You guys would hate spearing how I grew up... A few spins, let it sit a half hour. A few spins...repeat. I am not nearly as patient as my teacher (Grandpa), but I can't argue with his logic. If you're moving the deke, the fish will come in fast more often than not. If it's sitting still, the fish will move in slow more often than not. These are the rules; there are, of course, exceptions.

It's been said, but it remains true...let the fish tell you what they want that particular day. I spin 'em a few times every 5-10 minutes on average.

I do it the same way as pikestabber. I tend to agree that the pike come in slow if not too much movement from the dekes.

Hit my deek OFTEN... I agree with shamalex72... I get bored otherwise!

I remember that kegel… stuff….!   just finished my post work latte as a matter of fact!  Only the second case of those I’ve ever bought.     I’d get Mike something better.

application has been submitted. 👍   Leech......i've shot my share of bear......it be nice to get another but not the end of the world if i dont. i get to spend time with my son...its just another way to get into the woods. i've been at it since about 1976......that rush when you walk up to the bait and see the logs scattered all over and bait gone just doesnt get old for me.   i had to get rid of 1 rug because of bad tanning. i have another rug, shoulder mount and made 3 pillows from 2 different bear hides. my biggest issue has become what to do with the hide....that seems more of a trophy then the meat. i inquired 1 year at the Alex decoy show when there were a couple hide guys there and they didnt seem to interested. 🙄 i have no other ideas for the hide.......approval from the wife is not even negotiable!!!!!

Something in May, like around Opener.  Could be white knuckles for boaters that weekend with the way things stalled out since the contest started and how thick it still is.   Highs in the 50’s coming but lows are around freezing and not a lot of wind in the extended forecast.   I’ll tell  ya what, if you change from 4/26 and it hits that date, I’ll buy ya some mythical FM beer.  And you know where you can find it. 😉. But don’t change on my account - this is still a free country!

I caught the 10pm news the other night. They said that starting next week Minnesota will be above average for temps. I give them a 33% chance of getting that right.
