Starting next Tuesday (11/18), I don’t see any temperatures for at least 10 days that get above freezing. As a matter of fact there are 6 nights of single digit temps and one night where we may tickle zero. Yee ha, bring it on!!!

With that said, is there any new cool winter stuff out there that you would like me to bring in house? I am happy to bring stuff in if I know you guys want it. Thanks for treating us so well, I really appreciate it.

Ok, I'll start. How about some more Tungsten Jigs. A couple of Slush Buckets and some Slushcopters. I used the Slushcopter last year and it worked great.

Ever thought about permanent fish shacks?

Just put the boat away yesterday, I am ready for hard water season. smile

How about white/red demons? Pug bugs?

If the wind would quit I think this weekend or early next week possibly walking ice. But to anyone going to try early first ice, pay attention tread lightly it's not worth drowning.

Maybe this has changed, but it would be nice if you had AMSOIL of some sort if possible!

Posted

Your wish is my command. I started stocking AMSOIL about 2 months ago. I currently have their marine, snowmobile, ice auger, and bar and chain oil. I carry the snowmobile oil in quarts and gallons.

Ion Augers added a "reverse" feature to their augers this year. The reverse feature blows the ice chips and slush back down the hole to minimize the need to do any scooping. Cool. I just got my shipment of IONs in and they were gone in 60 minutes. I have another shipment coming the end of next week.

IONS - Like I said above, my first shipment of IONS were gone in less than 60 minutes. I just got my second shipment in and I am sure they will go quickly as well. I have six left. Get them while you can.

Yes the red wigglers are in and we will have them for the rest of the hard water season. Later this week I've got some Slender Spoons, VMC Tinglers, Macho Minnows, and other misc. stuff coming into the shop. We've got a few IONs left as well.

Santa and Elf Glenda had a great time this year and I am sure they will stop by again next year. Swing by our Facebook page and you can see a couple pictures from this years visit.

We also have a Toys for Tots drop box at the store. It is going to be picked up tomorrow so the gifts can be distributed to the children before Christmas. If anyone would like to make a drop today, it would be greatly appreciated.

Merry Christmas to all my HSO friends –

Now back to the topic of cool things. About a week ago a gentleman came in and asked if I could get him a Fish Grabber. I said “Sure, what the heck is it”? He said his wife has one and he wanted to give one to his Grandson for Christmas. In all of my years I haven’t seen what he described to me but after some digging we did find them and I bought some.

So here is my Christmas present to the first three HSO followers that stop by the store today, 12/25/15, and yes WE ARE CLOSED. I have placed three Fish Grabbers on the outside of our store. One on the Ice Chest on the west side of the building, one on the wood pile out front, and one IN the paper towel holder on the windshield wash station by pump 5 & 6. These are FREE to the first three folks that find them. Please take only one. There is one catch though, you need to let me know how well they work for you. I am going to try them myself but I want to know how they worked for you or your kids.

Merry Christmas, stay safe, and until we get a bunch of ice please fish with a buddy and wear your ice cleats.

In those years Polaris was known to put buna tipped needles in there sleds. They get a ring around the seat and don't seal shut. But if that would be the case your problem would be with the motor shut off and filling the crankcase with gas. If your plugs are brown that is were they should be. I wouldn't drop that needle down to the last grove. I would replace them before I did that. I have never had a carb with that setting. Have you looked at your clutches? They could be dirty or have a bad roller.  Does it bog as it's accelerating or when you hit the throttle?

but if he really wants I can change the date..

As soon as I started reading mind went to needles and seats.  You might want to try just replacing those first?  I’ve only done that once before in my life but it made the difference.  A carb refresh in 8,000 miles seems reasonable.

Good luck smurfy!  On getting drawn, I mean!   If it comes down to it, I know a guy that might be interested in a nice hide.

My 30 year-old Indy 500 (over 8,000 miles) has been having a mid-range bog for many years now.  It is worse on warm days and when the engine is warmer.  The sled runs fine up to about 1/4 throttle, then runs extremely rich up to 3/4 throttle.  The spark plugs are dark brown (better brown than down?) but not saturated.  8 years ago I moved the clips on the jet needles from the 3rd to the 2nd groove to lean the mixture and it helped for a while.   Should I move the clips to the top groove (temporary solution)? Could the jet needles, needle jets, and/or the main jets be warn and need replacement?   Don't think I will have time to tear the carbs apart this season for a rebuild so I may just band-aid the problem.

I think that Mike89 picked April 26 two hours before you, jparrucci.  Is that correct Mike89?

My last hide I gave to my Taxidermist friend to make what ever he liked out of it.   I've got a few fun Bear hunt stories to be told.  All 3 of us our first year stupidly tracking a blood trail in the dark together and getting lost, luckily smelled the bait making circles and got out. 🫣 Flash lights dying, deep in a swamp following a blood trail in the dark, the one who stayed at the bait called us back in!  We learned our second bear! Lol. 😞  Downing a wounded charging bear with the last bullet when tracking, no lie! 😬    Have had my fun!  🥳

I remember that kegel… stuff….!   just finished my post work latte as a matter of fact!  Only the second case of those I’ve ever bought.     I’d get Mike something better.

I still have hope. Put me down for my dad's birthday in April 26. Come on warm weather.
