Snake River Report

Recommended Posts

The fishing has been amazing lately to say the least! The fish are starting to stay tucked away in their safe holes, which makes fishing for Walleye, Bass and Pike much easier! They still like to wander around and move during low light conditions during morning and evening and cloudy days but the flow is right, the depth is right the weather has been stable so it has made for some great fishing opportunities!

Walleyes: They are biting best early morning, Rapalas are still used to put fish in the boat, Jigs with Crawler and Leech have been decent also.

Bass: Frogs and top water are working well, Carolina rigs with white worms have been good also.

Pike: Spinnerbaits, buzzbaits and Inline spinners will put them into the boat with no effort.

Remember you need to make sure you fish the brush and fish as close as you can to the bank! I can’t stress this enough. Every inch you’re out from that bank or brush pile lessens your chance to put fish in the boat. You can have the most up to date equipment out there but it will not put fish into the boat unless you have accurate casts. This goes for boat control also when trolling and drifting, you need to get that bait into the strike zone.

Good luck Fishing everyone!

There's a good access right in Pine City off of hwy 61. It's just upstream of where the river goes into cross lake. There's also an access on cross lake, where the river leaves the lake. And then an access on pokegama lake, right off of county rd 7.

I used to shore fish it a lot. But I stopped going there years ago, as it's pretty much just a public beach now. There's a launch directly across on the WI side. Way better, and there's never anyone else there.
