Crescent Lake has a good campground. If your there during the week, you shouldn't have a problem getting one along the lake. If you've never been there before, be very careful on this lake. There are shallow rocks everywhere! My dad lost his lower unit on this lake about 10 years ago. With that being said, the lake is loaded with structure! There's lot's of walleye and smallies in there. You can work the rock structure with slip bobbers and leeches or crank baits. There are alot of small muskies in here too.

JB;we will be in a 14' fishing boat with a 9.9.hoping that won't be much of a problem.i'm sure nothing is marked but if i just putt along i can't hit anything too hard have to remember not to lock motor down.is it possible to troll?really do like the looks of the lake.maybe have to bring my 6 hp backup. what do you think?

My son and I are heading up there on Wed morning, I have fished the lake before in a 14 ft with a 25 and trolled around, did hit a rock and ruined a prop but for the most part you have to be smart and not go ripping around. I will let you know how it goes.

I would spend the first part of your tip looking around to become familiar with the changing depths. I have fished the lake with my 16' Lund and 50 horse and never had a problem, but caution is encouraged! Last time we were there we caught several eyes, smallies and a smaller ski. I have seen a 26"er and a 29.5"er landed in this lake, they hopefully are still swimming today. Good luck

Yep, just be careful. I have a 14 footer myself and just when I think I know the lake, I'm introduced to a new rock pile eek There are a couple in particular that are really bad, the rocks are just above or below the surface (depending on water level). On windy days they are impossible to see. So yeah, just scout around while your trolling and make some mental notes. I like to troll along and inbetween the islands.

Chase the muskies. Such a thrill. Shoepack strain so 15 fish days across a couple guys are common. The 'skie in my pic is there.

I don't think anyone here can stress the rock piles enough. There's a massive reef that you can see on the map, but then in the open abyss you just find random things. I had such a close call this spring with my boat (1850 fishhawk, 135 honda) that I sat down in the back shaking and just kind of rocked back and forth. It's really that bad there. No Navionics or Lakemaster chip comes anywhere close.

Just got back, fished Crescent for a few days and the fishing was ok. The thing that I noticed this year for my son and I was that the small fish (Walleye's under 11" and smallies under 6" ) were the most common. There were no Muskie follows even and my son was trying.

Leeches/jigs were the bait of choice and when we did get on some fish they were deeper off the reefs/humps/piles unlike prior years. We went through a pound of medium leeches and the fatheads were not the bait of choice for us or the fish this past weekend.

Did run into a father/son who were catching some by slip bobber and night crawlers.

We also hit Tooey one morning and man it was windy and we did not have much success pulling cranks there, just some small ones on jig/leeches

idapaul pm me and I can send you a map with the rocks that I know of, I don't know them all but it's something to start with.
