Tom Lake north of Grand Marais

Anyone ever fish this lake? Thinking about giving it a try later in the summer/fall. What species did you target/catch?

Pickin's are pretty slim on tom lake. Pretty much just walleye and pike. I've never taken a boat out there, but have gotten a couple hammer handles casting from the boat launch.

agreed we fish it for walleyes it is fairly good walleye lake. Bring extra jigs as jb said northerns like jigs and leechs

Locals fish it with slip bobbers and leeches on the reefs

Realize this is an old thread, but wondering if anyone knows of any campgrounds near Tom Lake?  My buddy and I are thinking of taking kayaks instead of a boat for our spring fishing trip, and this lake seems small enough to be conducive to kayaking, while still offering a chance at some decent fishing. I haven't done much research, but everything I've found so far is close to Grand Marais, which seems like a fairly long drive to and from the lake each day.

I believe there is a campsite right at the boat launch. Otherwise, there are campsites at nearby devilfish, chester, and esther lakes. At the end of the arrowhead trail, McFarland Lake also has campsites.

Thanks JB. Haven't been able to find anything about the campground at the boat launch, but did find some for Devil Fish, Chester and Esther based on your response. Much appreciated.

My dad and brother smashed the walleyes yesterday on Tom Lake they caught 27 walleyes and kept their limit of 16-18 inchers. No photos from them yet
