And the only group denied tax exempt status was a lefty group.

But hey, commiepinkousurperworsethanwatergate.

Posted

And only Conservative groups have been waiting over 2.5 years for an answer on their application.

I guess if you just drag them out long enough and ask enough intrusive (Illegal) questions, they'll give up, and you won't need to worry about denying or approving them. whistle

But hey, Obama's half brother had his application approved in 15 days. shocked

So, Nothing to see here. Back to the beach and the sand. Hopefully someone didn't take the hole. smile

I'm curious. If the groups are supposed to be a-political, why are the Republicans saying the IRS targeted conservative groups? Are they admitting the Tea Party is a politically conservative movement and not just about freedoms?

Tea Party = Taxed Enough Already Party from the beginning. If you only find one major political party that is fiscally conservative, that's the way it is.

Being about freedom is a bonus!!!!!

from the beginning maybe. before palin glommed on for an extra 15 minutes.

gubmint mandated christian values are not compatible with freedom. truth. take the bible blinders off.

like ol' Reinhard used to say, it's not a party it's a movement. there isn't a fiscally conservative party.

And you don't think a group applying for tax exempt status with that motto isn't going to attract greater scrutiny by the IRS?

wink

LOL...

You know a president is in trouble when his supporters give excuses even he hasn't given.

The IRS has admitted that they gave more scrutiny to groups that were not just conservative in nature but any group that opposed this president's agenda such as Pro Isreal groups. That in itself wouldn't be bad except for the fact that many groups who were agreeable or friendly to the president were basically rushed through

This is the Chicago Way. This is what many of us figured would happen way back in 2008.So I'm not shocked by any of this. And, this president's second term is beginning to look like GWB's/GOP's second term.

My comment wasn't directed at anyone in particular but from what I've seen and read from the hearings from those trying to defend the IRS's actions.

Lois Lerner, embattled official at the heart of IRS tea party scandal, retires with full pension likely worth more than $50,000 as an internal review called for her firing

Lois Lerner, the IRS official who presided over a partisan program that targeted conservative organizations because of their political beliefs, will retire on Monday with a full pension package, a source at the Department of Treasury told MailOnline.

Lerner, 62, has been a federal government employee since at least 1981, making her eligible for the most robust retirement package the federal government offers career employees.

In May Lerner herself launched the scandal that would eventually claim her job, by answering a planted question about how the IRS handled politically oriented groups that applied for tax-exempt status.

In less than a day, tea party groups were complaining loudly that their applications had been stalled, in some cases for more than three years.

Less than two weeks later, Lerner refused to testify in a congressional hearing about the IRS's conduct, invoking her Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination.

But by making an opening statement defending herself, House Republicans said, she waived that right.

Congressional staff told reporters that an internal IRS review board had concluded Lerner was guilty of neglecting her duties, and was about to propose that she should be fired.

Why would someone quit their job over a "phony" scandal? smirk

They just gave you 50k reasons why.

You would believe that, too.

The IRS is a terrorist organization and should be treated as such.

Paid to shut up. Not the first time.

My guess is to take the fall and divert attention from those giving Lois her orders to target certain political groups.

The Obama administration on Tuesday defended its effort to regulate the tax return preparation business for the first time in U.S. history, basing its case largely on a 19th century law dealing with horses lost or killed in the Civil War.

At an appellate court hearing on a challenge brought by libertarian lawyers challenging the administration, Justice Department Tax Division lawyer Gilbert Rothenberg said: "I hate to beat a dead horse, especially one from the Civil War era."

But he explained that the administration sees the "Horse Act of 1884" as providing ample authority for the U.S. Internal Revenue Service to regulate the tens of thousands of preparers who fill out millions of Americans' federal tax returns.

A three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit heard the administration's argument. Rothenberg said the IRS should be allowed to force tax return preparers — who are now unregulated — to pass a competency test and take annual continuing education classes.

But the Institute for Justice, a libertarian advocacy law firm, disagreed.

"Congress never gave the IRS authority to regulate tax preparers," said Dan Alban, an attorney for the institute.

The case has broad implications for the industry, which includes H&R Block Inc., a few mid-tier companies and thousands of tiny, mom-and-pop firms.

A decision from the judges is still months away. In oral arguments, the judges — all appointed by Republican presidents — gave no clear sign of how they will rule, yea or neigh.

But they did question why the IRS was citing an 1884 law to justify trying to police tax return preparers in 2013.

Legal representation at issue

After the Civil War, many Americans brought war loss claims against the U.S. government, often for dead or missing horses.

A post-war industry emerged of agents who would press war loss claims for a fee, usually a percentage of the claim collected. Soon, claim values were being fraudulently inflated.

In response, the government started regulating these intermediaries, barring unscrupulous ones and certifying honest ones as "enrolled agents," a title that is still used today by people who represent clients in matters before the IRS.

The IRS is arguing that tax return preparers represent their customers in much the same way that enrolled agents do, so the agency should be able to expand regulation to include preparers.

But the Institute for Justice is arguing that tax return preparers do not carry out the same level of representation, but rather merely provide a paid service for clients.

"Preparing a tax return is not a representative act," Alban said. "It is performing a service, certainly, but there's no representation."

More than 78 million Americans in 2011 paid someone to prepare their tax returns. The industry posted estimated revenue this year of $9.4 billion.

The Institute sued in March 2012 to block the IRS's regulations and won a district court ruling in January halting parts of the agency's program. The IRS appealed.

OBAMA AND THUGS PULLED OFF THE HEIST OF THE CENTURY

It is increasingly clear that the 2012 elections, both presidential and senate, were stolen by Obama, the Democratic Party, the IRS, and government employee unions. It’s right out of a mob movie like “The Godfather.”

The Obama Crime Family could give the mob lessons. Don Obama plays for keeps. The Don gets what he wants and when he found himself in danger of losing his power and control, Obama went to his enforcers – the IRS.

In a story reminiscent of the mob fixing union elections, the IRS enforcers conspired to destroy Don Obama’s main competition – the Tea Parties and other conservative fundraising groups.

Lois Lerner was only one of many IRS big shots in DC who gave orders to IRS offices across the U.S. to “kill” the Tea Parties and other conservative groups. Their goal – steal the election. As if only days ago, the “fall gal” retired from the IRS. We can only guess what kind of massive payoff she received from Obama’s donors.

The 2010 elections were the biggest embarrassment suffered by a U.S. President in modern history. The power, energy and passion of the Tea Party won the GOP an amazing 63 House seats, six Senate seats, six Governorships, and 680 seats in state legislatures. It was an historic landslide. Obama’s entire agenda was threatened.

Yet, the mainstream media expects us to believe that only two years later (2012) that Tea Party energy and passion was gone…overnight. Or, perhaps they changed back to fans of Obama and the Democratic Party. What a fairytale.

The real story is that the Obama administration ordered the IRS to delay, distract, hound, harass, and intimidate Tea Party groups across the U.S. Without IRS attacks and interference, Tea Parties would have had the same influence and momentum as 2010 – when their raging energy and passion led to a shocking landslide defeat for Obama and his allies.

There is no need to question or debate any longer. We now have emails from IRS officials stating exactly that – the Tea Parties had to be stopped if Democrats wanted to win the election.

And, conservative donations had to be stalled if Democrats wanted to retain control of the U.S. Senate.

Instead of massive Tea Party rallies and record-setting fundraising for conservative candidates, Tea Party groups were busy being distracted, hounded, harassed, and intimidated by the IRS. They were busy being asked about the names of their members, names of their speakers, content of their Facebook posts, and even the content of their prayers.

Conservative media personalities (like yours truly) were attacked with IRS audits, as were Pro-Life, Pro-Israel, and Pro-Constitution groups. The tax-deductible status of Tea Party groups was purposely stalled so they could not raise money for the 2012 election.

What the biased liberal mainstream media refuses to do is connect the dots. None have the courage to state that “the fix” was in. That a fraud perpetrated by government employees handed control of the United States of America to Obama, a politician who supports government employees and their unions.

What did the IRS get out of this? The answer is pure bribery. Republicans, and especially Tea Parties, believe in limited government, smaller budgets, fewer government employees, and cutting bloated salaries, obscene pensions, and early retirement for government employees. Another Tea Party landslide would have threatened the power of government employee unions. Many government employees would have been laid off.

Does anyone believe it a coincidence that Obama met with IRS union boss Colleen Kelley at the White House the day before the targeting of Tea Parties by the IRS began? If you do, I have a bridge to sell you in Brooklyn.

Barack Obama was fraudulently re-elected. Our country was hijacked by government employees protecting their cushy lifetime jobs, bloated salaries, obscene pensions, and powerful unions.

Think I’m wrong? Evidently IRS officials don’t. Several of them have been busy hiring famous and expensive law firms to defend themselves.

Where are they getting the money? Is Obama arranging for big Democratic donors like George Soros, or union political funds, to pay their legal bills? Is Obama scared to death of what these IRS bosses will say under oath? Could their testimony end his Presidency and destroy his legacy?

In the end it’s clear to anyone who hasn’t been brainwashed by government schools or bribed by government checks that the 2012 election was fraudulently stolen by Barack Obama.

What did Obama, Democrats, and the IRS gain?

1. The right to continue to loot the treasury with bailouts, stimulus, corporate welfare, and government contracts to his friends, donors, loyal media lackeys, and corrupt union bosses.

2. The right to continue to redistribute income from the business owners (who vote Republican) to Obama’s voters (the poor, unions, and government employees).

3. The ability to save Obamacare and unionize 15 million healthcare workers – thereby raising $15 billion in union dues to elect Democrats. And of course to overwhelm middle class families with $20,000 annual health insurance bills they can’t pay, thereby addicting them to government handouts.

4. The IRS itself gains tremendously. They are now in charge of policing Obamacare – a huge, new bureaucracy. It also adds thousands of new IRS agents, thereby greatly enriching the IRS union.

5. The opportunity to pass immigration amnesty, thereby producing 10 to 20 million new loyal Democratic voters.

6. The opportunity to bankrupt business owners and permanently weaken the private sector, thereby drying up donations for conservative candidates and causes.

7. The opportunity to weaken American influence internationally (see Egypt, Libya, Syria).

Obama’s re-election also means he may serve long enough to appoint one or two more Supreme Court justices, whose radical leftist views will ensure America is permanently transformed to a big government socialist nation.

This wasn’t just any theft, folks. It was a trillion dollar theft. The Obama Crime Family (so far) has gotten away with the greatest and most daring act of fraud in world history. They stole the election.

So you don't think the IRS suppression of dissenting organizations made any difference? Rather it was because the nominee wasn't Gary Johnson or Ron Paul? Or did you have someone else in mind?

Please share with us the name of the candidate who was seeking the nomination that would have beaten Obama.

Nope, not that much, but you keep clinging to that if it gives you some comfort.

The dog and pony show of misfits and clowns that some called the republican primary coupled with a witch, a couple of crazy old misogynists and a nominee that wears magic underwear pretty much made Obama a shoe in.

So, peatmoss, who did you support? the guy that was for hookers and blow and got 1% of the vote?

And you keep talking about "magic underwear". Apparently you have some sort of bigoted prejudice against Mormons? I guess they are ok to be prejudiced against. If it was Jews, you would be an anti-semite, if it was blacks, you would be a racist. But Mormons are OK.

I'm waiting for you to start making fun of Muslims. Not that it is very likely.

After a couple trips to the timeout room here on this site, I limit my critique of religion to a few jabs and barbs here and there. I've made it real clear how I feel about islam on this site. sick

I'm actually quite critical of all mythological beliefs and find them harmful to society. Don't push me further on the issue unless you're willing to serve half smile my time.

In those years Polaris was known to put buna tipped needles in there sleds. They get a ring around the seat and don't seal shut. But if that would be the case your problem would be with the motor shut off and filling the crankcase with gas. If your plugs are brown that is were they should be. I wouldn't drop that needle down to the last grove. I would replace them before I did that. I have never had a carb with that setting. Have you looked at your clutches? They could be dirty or have a bad roller.  Does it bog as it's accelerating or when you hit the throttle?

but if he really wants I can change the date..
    • Wanderer
As soon as I started reading mind went to needles and seats.  You might want to try just replacing those first?  I’ve only done that once before in my life but it made the difference.  A carb refresh in 8,000 miles seems reasonable.

Good luck smurfy!  On getting drawn, I mean!   If it comes down to it, I know a guy that might be interested in a nice hide.

My 30 year-old Indy 500 (over 8,000 miles) has been having a mid-range bog for many years now.  It is worse on warm days and when the engine is warmer.  The sled runs fine up to about 1/4 throttle, then runs extremely rich up to 3/4 throttle.  The spark plugs are dark brown (better brown than down?) but not saturated.  8 years ago I moved the clips on the jet needles from the 3rd to the 2nd groove to lean the mixture and it helped for a while.   Should I move the clips to the top groove (temporary solution)? Could the jet needles, needle jets, and/or the main jets be warn and need replacement?   Don't think I will have time to tear the carbs apart this season for a rebuild so I may just band-aid the problem.

My last hide I gave to my Taxidermist friend to make what ever he liked out of it.   I've got a few fun Bear hunt stories to be told.  All 3 of us our first year stupidly tracking a blood trail in the dark together and getting lost, luckily smelled the bait making circles and got out. 🫣 Flash lights dying, deep in a swamp following a blood trail in the dark, the one who stayed at the bait called us back in!  We learned our second bear! Lol. 😞  Downing a wounded charging bear with the last bullet when tracking, no lie! 😬    Have had my fun!  🥳
