Read something out of the Twin Cities of possible bait shortage with all the extra ice. Is that showing up around Vermilion?

Where is the "flavor of the day" for getting bait this year? Places we visit are Y Store, Vermilion Food &Fuel, Shamrock, Grubens.

Yes, there was a statewide bait shortage last weekend for minnows and leeches.

Many minnow ponds winter killed, causing the shortage and area bait suppliers only delivered small orders to their customers.

As the weather warms up, the supply will get better.

You will never replace the butt kicking all bait shops took on the opener.

We got about three times more bait today than last weekend, hopefully it will be enough to get by.
