Osakis Ice and Access Report

Still lots of ice on the lake. Manthey's Bay is about 30% open, Miller Bay is 100% open, with occasional small open areas here and there. The ice has moved a little on the north end with the wind we had today. South end is still pretty solid. The accesses look to be in decent shape. The one at Battle Point was kind of messed up from the ice but they fixed it Tuesday or Wednesday. Hoping the big winds Saturday will open the lake up.

The ice from just south of Battle Point to Head of the Lakes Resort will be gone by Saturday morning with the rain and wind coming tonight. It is going fast even now without the rain and wind. Manthey's Bay is about 70-80% open now and a large part of the area from Manthey's Bay to about Holiday Resort is open. Don't think much of the area from say Moon Bar south will open by Saturday morning but the wind during the day Saturday might break it up.

From yesterday's satellite image it looks ice free.

As of yesterday afternoon, Linwood resort had about 500 yards of ice in front to all the way south to town where the ice goes out 1/4 mile. Should all be gone by the weekend for sure. Fishing was dead! We fished the north end all the way to 2 mile bar without a single bite!

Should improve with the warmer weather.
