Just thought I would start this now to help us know what the prognosis is on our area lakes. If you've heard of winterkill on a lake, please post honestly.

What constitutes a winter kill? How many dead fish does one have to see?

Guess I don't know too much about that, but maybe more than would be expected from a normal year. Maybe try to classify as low/moderate/high depending on previous years? I'll be running into the CO one of these days and get some info from him on some lakes

I saw a lot of dead fish on the east shore of Maple today. Some really big carp looking things, not really sure what they are! Probably some sort of sucker? They had some really short feeler-like things on each side of their mouth. Some guys I talked to said there were a lot of fish, Pike, Bass, and some pan fish dead along the east shore by the access. They also said a couple ponds they frequent had really bad winter kill, lots of dead fish along the shore and couldn't get a bite.
