Cinco de Mayo ice fishing

Recommended Posts

Well, it has been a long fun winter, but I think today was finally my last day out on the ice. We had a good 15" out where the fish were, but the shorelines are starting to pull out pretty far and even the ice at the end of the dock was getting really spongy when we walked out on it. Didn't find much for size but there was a pile sunfish and bass in aboot 10-14 feet of water, which was aboot as close as we dared to drill to the one shoreline. Called it a day aboot mid-afternoon because the sun was really starting to beat down and we were worried aboot getting off. There was definitely some tip-toeing and more than a little bit of pucker factor getting off the ice, but no one went for a swim.

We did well for bluegills in 5 FOW on Saturday. Ice was getting iffy. I'm done ice fishing for the year. It was cool to hammer the gills that shallow in May on the ice.
