The birds have been tough to get in this year,my first hunt I had 3 jakes in the dekes and since then not a jake or tom.Plenty of vocal hens have been in the dekes though.Every morning though we've heard plenty of gobbling.Went with a buddy today in 601 a spot that we've hunted a couple of times.Lots of gobbling in front of us and behind then we see the flock in front of us. I start to pull the strings on the strutter deke and they all start to come in.Five jakes, four toms and two hens are now standing in our dekes at 8 yds. I have a wide open shot but my buddy gets first shot and part of the blind frame is in his way. He finally gets his bow drawn and the turkeys start to wander off as fast as they came in he gets a 25 yd shot and just missed left. The way this season has gone it sure would've been nice to have the gun along.Gonna try and make it for a couple of evening hunts yet.
