I was on a lake near St. Joe yesterday evening and the ice was 25" thick. The snow on top was about 6" - 8" deep. No slush where I was at but that could change in the next couple of days.

Always be carefull of south facing landings this time of year.

Some lake are in great shape while others are not so good. I have been on a few latley. Clearwater is still ok, but the access points are in rough shape. Some of the smaller lakes in the Annandale area are pretty slushy and have pockets of rotten ice from the melting. The lakes arond St. Cloud are in a little better shape, but things will be changing soon. I would expect quite a few of the access points to be about shot by next week if not sooner.

I was on a lake near Avon today and the ice measured 28". The access was a different story. We decided to take the ATV, but we probably could have drove the truck out there. I quit fishing about 1 PM, and there was standing water on about 40% of the lake when I left.

Found upto a foot of standing water in places on the Hs Chain, Cedar Island seemed to be the worst. The access points are about shot for driving here.

Cory

Except for a few small areas, the river is still locked up tight from Melrose all the way to the dam in Cold Spring. There were still people driving across the summer access on the river Thu .

Hows the ice on sugar?

Might want to ask this in the Annandale forum.

I hear from a good source that the ice is still in good enough shape for wheelers and walking. Fish haven't shown up in numbers in the late season crappie spot yet

I was on a lake near St. Joe yesterday evening and the ice has deteriorated a lot since last Sat. It was like walking on about 3" of slushy pea sand and some spots you'd sink down as much as 8". The auger cut thru the 20" of ice like butter and I have dull blades. I don't think I would take an ATV on the ice anymore around here.
