Last year a buddy and I were fishing out of a boat on a metro lake on this same day, catching a mix of sun fish and crappies while enjoying a little sun and a light mid 60's breeze. No snow or ice to be seen. This year we were ice fishing while sitting on the tailgate of a 1 ton f350 crew cab with the old 460 engine and an old camper on the back. Same spot, same day, 1 year apart. The snow has got to go!!!

How can we have light chop and mid 60 degree temps one year meanwhile the very next year on the same day and same lake have over 20 inches of ice, enough to support a huge crew cab long box 1 ton pick-up with a camper in the back.. Easily over 7000# with 3 adults and gear. Crazy world we live in..

Last year was a fluke by my standards.

I'll take Ice over open water. No boat = no fishing unless it's from a dock.

Global warming man it stinks:D i wonder if we will ever have a year like last year agin...or how long till we do, i remeber one thursday driving by sarah and a guy was out on his wheeler ice fishing, one week later same guy in his boat fishing

I know last year was really abnormal, but this is ridiculous. A normal spring would be nice. From what the TV weather personalities have been saying, this ain't normal.

Yep. Last year was a fluke...

This year too. It hasn't been this cold on the first day of spring since 1964.

All it's going to take is some rain and 40's to really get things going. The sun angle is so high now that once we hit that 40+ mark + rain...it'll go quick

I have to admit, as much as I love late season ice - I'm really missing my boat right now...
