I went fishing yesterday and drove my truck everywhere. Solid 18 inches everywhere. They are calling for most of this week to be in the 20's with some lows in the single digits. We could feasably still be driving next weekend. Im thinking we might not ice out until april 7-10th. Last year I was already using my boat! What a difference a year makes.

Trouble is, the landing will go much sooner than truck travel on the ice. I would agree you will be driving through next week. I believe Washington has even more than 18" but I have not measured it for awhile. Have to been over quite a ways to get through.

I changed oil on my outboard this morning and I noticed I changed it last spring on March 3rd and I remember it was a very nice afternnon when I did it. I write the date on the oil filter when I change it.

Freak spring last year.

Being boatless for the first time in 100 years..Keep the ice! lol.

Still 16 to 24 of ice all over Farbo lakes. And the fish are very active! Landings are starting to stink from the fast drivers.

I have a tackle box and 3 rods by the door, all I need is open water.

Maybe we will have a good apple crop this year.

It is good to see the snow, I drove by the cannon river (rice lake and sabre) last weekend. It was as good as dry at Sabre lake.

There were a lot of open areas on the Mn river near St Peter.

So will there be ice fishing at the Trout ponds this year? Stay tuned.

Last year my last day was on march 9th here we are 10 days later and still driving. Woo hoo that means I'll be walking soon and last usually lasts a couple weeks. My old man drove his motorcycle 213 miles on St patties day last year and now there it sits on the maintainer for a couple weeks yet.

I'm loving this ice season. smile

Ready for open water. Ice fishing stuff is put away and sitting in the boat sorting tackle in the garage.

The cold nights are repairing the ice but use caution. The sun is burning holes through the ice and it will soon be honey combed.

Looking back on my ice out dates in 90,93,and 01 was April 18. I am thinking it starting to look like that could happen again.

In 2001 you needed an extension in a permy down here. I used 2 extensions on a mid march Lake of the woods trip that year! I beleive we had 30+ " ice then.

Nothing like listening to reg season baseball games on the ice! No shelter and 40's or 50's with sun up until 8:00 laugh

Love this. I remember one year sitting in a long sleeve t shirt until 8 catching big, aggressive crappies non-stop, listening to baseball and hearing my first turkey gobble of the spring. It's not all bad!

Just came in off the lake. Ice is the whole flighting of the auger. Now I need to find my cooker.

Looks like high 30's to mid 40's in the forecast for the week. With the sun being as high as it is, it's gonna start getting sloppy pretty quick. I'd still love an afternoon of big crappies through the ice, but only as a consolation. I'm ready for open water.

Have faith with the temps still well below freezing for the week what slop happens will refreeze every night. Just gotta keep people from tearing up the landings so they last as long as possible
