It was put in right after pictures. I waited until right before the final coat of varnish because I was using wood filler for the cap on the lead cavity and wanted to be sure it was water proofed good prior to balance and swim.

A few new ones. The big muskie is 20" lol. It looks awesome and it was reallya fun to make, it even swims nice! (for a giant piece of pine with a bunch of lead in it anyway) it will be interesting to see if it brings in any fish or just scares everything away... Anyone else ever try something like this? full-39247-38477-20131031_130006_1.jpg

That's encouraging! I have one cut out that's about 30", but i want sure if i would go through with making it after i finished this one. I can't wait to try it out, it'll be a good reference as I'll know what a 20" fish is for sure now. The 30 would be pretty handy too!

More fun with bright pink I hand painted this one so it has some of that brushed paint imperfection to it.

and this one was a little bit dorkfish inspired, that day glow yellow paint he likes to use, I didn't want to completely copy and use the orange over the top of the yellow, so I went with the bright green instead.

As soon as my wife gets home and I'm done with daycare duty, I will be hitting the ice to try my new decoys finally!

Just finished up the last ones until after the new year. Nothing over the top, just decoys I thought might work, here are a couple of highlights...

Don't take me wrong, I'm not anti-technology.  Battery powdered items will always have their place.  I'm mean you don't want your girl friend or wife in the bedroom playing for their gas powered adult toys!!  That would be a bit loud and smokey!

That’s right. My 84 year old dad loves his electric chain saw. Light weight and quiet. Besides, at his age he’s not cutting a bunch. Where as myself I want something with more power and heavier duty.  Look at how many people have switched back to gasoline cars after running one in winter if you travel a lot.   As long as my strike master works I’ll keep using gas. Maybe my next will be electric, but who knows,  you can find used gas ones pretty reasonable as others buy electric.

I think electric items have their places, I just don't think large commercial jobs are going to be able to work well with them. Can't see a logging crew out in the woods all day changing batteries!
