Started getting my stuff rounded up for next weekend.

I'll bring a bump board that Archery Sniper made me for people to measure with. It goes to 42" inches but hopefully we need to break out the tape measure for an extra couple inches! smile

I'll also have a table top bbq grill if anyone needs to use it for the potluck. I plan on bringing wieners and brats.

BNS asked for a roll call but not many of us responded. We should probably get that going. Our cabin will be me, Mollie, archery, Hawkeye, behind the head, both dealers, and Bowhunt.

I also wanted to add if anyone know someone that wants to go but doesnt have the equipment post it on here. I have some extra stuff and I'm sure others do so we could get them out on the ice. Don't be shy

I will be staying at my cabin nearby. I plan on being there around noon on Friday. I will bring up some chicken salad and venison sticks.

Talked to dixons at the ice show. They have 5 inches of ice. They are recommending foot travel. A couple of atv's went through the ice yesterday.

That sucks! I was hoping to try out my new perm/port house. Oh well I am prepared to go light if need be. How long a pull from the access road to the fishing area?

If you go straight out from the landing not very far. Guessing maybe 1/8 mile?

I will have a sled on skis that is 4x6. I can take the hitch off and pull it with a rope. Pulls real easy. If anyone needs to use it to get a house out its available.

Update for you guys, I just got off the phone with Karen. They have 5" of ice right now, speculating around 6" when you guys get up there. The sheriff has posted signs for NO wheeler traffic on the ice. Im guessing that will still be in affect when you guys arrive. At least 3 wheelers have gone thru the ice. Be careful and enjoy yourselves! The clay banks have had hardly any traffic, and the water is very murky from the report Karen received.

Hope this helps you guys!

The reson they posted the landing is a couple of goofballs buzzing the houses and dropped a wheeler in, one other guy drove into an unmarked spear hole. Everyone better bring cleats along.

That’s right. My 84 year old dad loves his electric chain saw. Light weight and quiet. Besides, at his age he’s not cutting a bunch. Where as myself I want something with more power and heavier duty.  Look at how many people have switched back to gasoline cars after running one in winter if you travel a lot.   As long as my strike master works I’ll keep using gas. Maybe my next will be electric, but who knows,  you can find used gas ones pretty reasonable as others buy electric.

I think electric items have their places, I just don't think large commercial jobs are going to be able to work well with them. Can't see a logging crew out in the woods all day changing batteries!

I agree on the choices.   I didn't mean to say that a battery auger was better or greener or whatever.  I could care less about that.   It just seems that "most" ice anglers have made a switch to a battery auger in recent years.  That's all I was saying.  I know about a dozen people who regularly ice fish and they all have battery augers now.  I bet if you conducted a survey of all ice anglers, the majority would answer that they use a battery powered auger.
