We're looking worse than that Detroit team that I'm sure we were chuckling about and thought we'd never be that bad, well knock on wood we look sick, in the dug out, on the bases if anyone gets on, on the hill, on-deck, in the bull pen, etc. We got a lot of decent 8 and 9 hitters. Thank heavens for i-pods, DS's, etc. or these guys might actually have to talk to one another on the flights to and from where we're getting pounded. I could care less if we lose every game really...I want to see some freakin enthusiasm for the game of baseball, all these guys need to reflect back to being that all-star babe ruth league player or on the traveling team or the stud high school player, they need to find "it" again and simply forget how ugly it is, they are a really dull group to watch play, bring back Carlos Gomez,Punto,Thome,Cuddy, at least somebody with a pulse. Sorry, but forget the money, contracts, etc. just go play for fun for the love of the game, quit letting the game eat you guys up, go swing from the heals a few times, all these defensive swings are tappers to the mound or two hoppers to 2nd. Find yourself and maybe a team will surface out of it.

First series win yesterday, beating up on Milwaukee in interleague play tonight. I'm sure the Twins were just sandbagging for a few months...

Nick Punto and major league baseball should never be in the same sentence ever again.

Can anyone tell me why Marquis is still on this team? Anyone at all? Bueller? Bueller? Talk about a major buzz-kill. In any case, very nice road trip so far.

Marquis Has been designated for reassignment so he's gone. You know the pitching staff is in trouble when you have your catcher throwing harder than any of the starting five.

were gonna be seeing the pitching staff of the future here soon, were gonna have nothing but AA and AAA pitchers pitching in no time

It's to bad really, seeing so many team building walk off wins etc. but it's never us. Let's hope for a quick turn around, our division no one wants to claim it, we need to prepare for a year or two from now and hope we can put the right recipe together.

It seems our rookie pitchers are doing better than our has been staff we started with.

I hope they can continue this winning trend,

It sure seems like they have lit up the whole Twins team for now. I hope this can continue but I am not so sure they can continue to do what they have in the past week.

Nice to see the Twins trying to nake some changes with the pitching as we had a big fat nothing for starters.

I just hope and pray our youngsters pitching success isn't a Joe Mays moment when you look great until these guys get a mitt full of at bats against you, but who cares it has to happen to find out. Last night was the first time since prime Liriano and Santana where we had a guy named Walters twirling stuff up there that seemed unhittable ! Man some silly stuff. Awesome, Morneau stirs the drink !

I say the best thing is for a change of ownership.

The owners knew what they needed before the season started and did about nothing.

If and that's a big if, we could get a few good pitchers, the Twins could possibly have a pretty good team next season. It all starts with pitching and we have nothing more than some hopes on a few rookies that at this time are better than our veteran pitchers.

I sure hope than when the Vikes get thier new stadium they do not flop like the Twins have. I believe Ziggy will spend to try and get a SB team but who knows.

If Ziggy goes the route of Poland, no more sports teams for me or stadiums. Send them to another state.

Bruce Chen, Derek Lowe, we can't hit em but we could've had both these guys on our roster, nope we end up with Sydney Ponson I mean Jason Marquis of course. Bruce Chen no way. How's Danny Valencia doing ? Is he learning Japanese from Nishi ? It was a good move not giving JJ Hardy those dollars Nishi got. 2 errors in like 250 chances, 10 tilts, 25 rbi's and he hasn't hit a tilt in 17 games, Hardy is only ranked 4th best shortstop in baseball, we got the better end of it with Nishi.

It's been a treat to watch them as of late. I typically watch almosy every game.

Scott Diamond has been great to watch.

What can one say about Revere ot Ploffe?

I realize they will not continue to be this hot but it has been a fun ride.

Twins pull their starters consistently earlier for no reason than any other team in baseball. Ozzie would have left the starter in the whole game and we would have won

I wonder if having one if not thee worst starting rag-tag rotations in MLB history and one of the better bullpens would have anything to do with it?

Ozzie, Delmon, Valencia what a trio .. grin

come on, you know that the Twins have always done this

I think the Twins do alot of things right, this isnt one of them

Jeeze, how did pitchers in the past ever have long careers pitching all those innings and complete games

The game yesterday was sad. The kid from Eden Prairie pitched an all start performance for a young pitcher and then we gave it all away late.

24 runs surrendered to the weak hitting oakland a's along with a sweeping at their hands.... now 16 games under .500....

Those of you that argued with me the twins shouldnt have signed any more or better pitching then they did and they went about things "smartly" this off season, i beg to differ...

Your seeing the results

I agree 100%, we needed pitchers and really got nothing. if we could pick up a few talented , proven pitchers, we could do something next year but we HAVE to get some pitching.

pavano - under contract this year

baker - under contract this year

blackburn - under contract this year

liriano - final year of deal

this was a transition year no matter how you want to spin it. they weren't going to buy a bunch of free agent pitchers for the 2012 season because they already had guys under contract. (yes, we all know they didn't work out)

2013 will be the year you guys can b and moan about them not getting at least one decent starter in free agency because they will have at least 3 or 4 spots to fill in the rotation.

With the early ice out, how is the curlyleaf pondweed doing?

On the south end...   The big basin, otherwise known as Big Traverse Bay, is ice free.  Zippel Bay and Four Mile Bay are ice free as well.  Everything is shaping up nicely for the MN Fishing Opener on May 11th. With the walleye / sauger season currently closed, most anglers are targeting sturgeon and pike.  Some sturgeon anglers are fishing at the mouth of the Rainy River, but most sturgeon are targeted in Four Mile Bay or the Rainy River.  Hence, pike are the targeted species on the south shore and various bays currently.   Pike fishing this time of year is a unique opportunity, as LOW is border water with Canada, the pike season is open year round. The limit is 3 pike per day with one being able to be more than 40 inches. All fish 30 - 40 inches must be released. Back bays hold pike as they go through the various stages of the spawn.  Deadbait under a bobber, spinners, spoons and shallow diving crankbaits are all viable options.   Four Mile Bay, Bostic Bay and Zippel Bay are all small water and boats of various sizes work well. On the Rainy River...  Great news this week as we learned sturgeon will not be placed on the endangered species list by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.     The organization had to make a decision by June 30 and listing sturgeon could have ended sturgeon fishing.  Thankfully, after looking at the many success stories across the nation, including LOW and the Rainy River, sturgeon fishing and successful sturgeon management continues.   A good week sturgeon fishing on the Rainy River.  Speaking to some sturgeon aficionados, fishing will actually get even better as water temps rise.     Four Mile Bay at the mouth of the Rainy River near the Wheeler's Point Boat Ramp is still producing good numbers of fish, as are various holes along the 42 miles of navigable Rainy River from the mouth to Birchdale.   The sturgeon season continues through May 15th and resumes again July 1st.   Oct 1 - April 23, Catch and Release April 24 - May 7, Harvest Season May 8 - May 15, Catch and Release May 16 - June 30, Sturgeon Fishing Closed July 1 - Sep 30, Harvest Season If you fish during the sturgeon harvest season and you want to keep a sturgeon, you must purchase a sturgeon tag for $5 prior to fishing.    One sturgeon per calendar year (45 - 50" inclusive, or over 75"). Most sturgeon anglers are either a glob of crawlers or a combo of crawlers and frozen emerald shiners on a sturgeon rig, which is an 18" leader with a 4/0 circle hook combined with a no roll sinker.  Local bait shops have all of the gear and bait. Up at the NW Angle...  A few spots with rotten ice, but as a rule, most of the Angle is showing off open water.  In these parts, most are looking ahead to the MN Fishing Opener.  Based on late ice fishing success, it should be a good one.

Nice fish. I moved to the Sartell area last summer and just thought it was windy like this everyday up here? 🤭

Crazy windy again today.... This is has been the norm this spring. Between the wind and the cold fronts, fishing has been more challenging for me than most years.  Panfish have been moving in and out of the shallows quite a bit. One day they are up in the slop, the next they are out relating to cabbage or the newly sprouting lilly pads.  Today eye guy and I found them in 4-5 ft of water, hanging close to any tree branches that happened to be laying in the water.  Bigger fish were liking a 1/32 head and a Bobby Garland baby shad.   Highlight of the day way this healthy 15incher
