Who should the Vikes draft?

They should teach how to sext, and not get caught. I know that would have helped a few players out grin

For what it's worth...read today that Shefter would put his $$$ down that the Vikes will NOT select Kahlil with the #3 pick.

Kind of interesting...

For what it's worth just about sums up anything ESPN aka the E channel has to say about sports in general. What a useless piece of airwave consumption.

If I had a dollar for every time Schefter has been wrong in the past few years I could retire early. He may turn out to be right on this, but I trust his opinion less than any other network pundit out there.

I would be surprised if a team traded up to 3 for Tannehill. They'd be way overdrafting AND overpaying to get that pick. It'd be a ridiculous gamble. I don't think he's that highly rated over Weeden, Cousins, Wilson etc to warrant getting picked Top 5 when you could get one of those guys in the 2nd round.

I will be extremely surprised if the Vikings are able to trade out of the 3 spot, and even more if they pass on Kalil to take Blackmon

While our secondary is one of our huge hole in our team, we have already picked up a couple scrubs to play in the back field. Their OL is terrible, and is in need of huge help, Kahil is that help. Unless the Vikings get their socks knocked off of them with a great trade, I just dont see any better option then to take Kahil at 3. There are planty of other decent DB that we can get with our 2nd pick, but I doubt we go that route with our second pick either. I see Kahil with our first pick, then either Janoris Jenkins, or Stephen Hill with their second pick. Then with the later picks, adding line backers, and a center.

Hey trust me... I think Kalil is 'the pick' at number 3. I just think that Ltl Ricky and the coaching staff are fawning over Caibourne and really have him as good a pick as Kalil. I really think they are 50-50 which way to go. Kalil should be the way... time will tell. I highly doubt that anyone will trade up with any decent offer that they should consider....

Good Luck!

I think there is little to zero chance they take claiborne. I think that was all smikescreen trying to put another name out there for teams to have to trade up to get.

I was thinking Jenkins in the 2nd to until all this garbage about him has come out. He admitted to teams he never did quit smoking dope after getting kicked out of Florida. I wouldn't touch him.

The only way they pick Claiborne is if they trade down, and I would say that is unlikely. Kalil might not be a playmaker because of the position he plays, but he is the best player available AND he fills a big need. When you can get the best player available and it's in a position of need, there's nothing to think about. Kalil in Rd 1 and probably a receiver or DB in rd 2.

4wanderingeyes- A center?? They just gave Sullivan a big long term contract. With all our needs, They won't pick a center in the first 5 rounds.

The only way I see the Vikes passing on Kalil is if someone is making an offer similar to the Redskins for the #3 pick. Seriously, the Rams GM probably needed an emergency celebration beer after hearing that deal agreed to.

I totally agree. The Rams really set them selves up nicely with that trade! The Vikes won't get anything even close to that.

FishHead, They could use a center as Sullivan just isn't a center. Move him to guard, his natural position, and draft a larger lineman. Sullivan is getting mowed over half the game, he's too small and has the wrong body type for a center. He needed help all year on the inside with double teams and that's why the outside rush got to Ponder so often, that and Load on the right side just isn't quick enough.

If they're smart they'll draft a lot of defense after round 1. The Vikes aren't winning anything until that shutdown D re-emerges.

Believe me, I've never been a fan of Sullivan. I think he's undersized too and I was shocked that they gave him that contract. However he did play much better last year than the year before. His 1st year as a starter he was pushed 2-3 yard back on every play. He played better last year (still not very good in my opinion) and was rewarded with a contract. They like him as a center and there's no way they draft a center or replace him this year. I don't think he would be any better as a guard either.

Charlie Johnson will move to left guard after they draft Kalil. They still need to find a right guard. Possibly Chris DeGeare or DeMarcus Love?

They also drafted Fusco last year and he backs up Sullivan and should push for the right guard starting spot too. Fusco played very well when given the opportunity last year.

New thoughts.....assume the Vikings f.o. think Love and/or Johnson can adequately man LT. They get a great offer from Miami for #3(#8,#40,and 2013#1rd).....doing so we would probably miss on all this years blue-chippers.....we decide to go all in on shutting down the center of our defense, by taking Kuechly (mlb) at #8, and best safety(Smith/ Iloka) available at # 35, Miami's second round spot#40 take bpa corner or wr. What would you think about that idea?

We could fill in bpa gaps in positions later picks. If he is healthy I like Datko-ot,Compton-ot, Dale Moss-wr,Adams speed wr,Gray-rb,Martin-dt,Veldman-tall te,etc.

Thoughts?

Tannehill is going to fall into Miami's lap as it is so they won't need to move up for that but I do like your position picks in the later rounds. How about that moron D.B. from Northern Alabama that has had three arrests, kicked off Florida State and has 3 kids from 3 separate women so far at the age of 22? what are you thinking when this goes on in your life at 22?

Jenoris jenkins. He would have been right with patrick peterson last year had he come out. He was kicked out of florida. Goes to north alabama. Probably a first rounder but admits to scouts he is still smoking it up. Now who knows when he gets picked.what a moron. Talk about ripping up a winning lottery ticket.

You know some team will take a chance on him and try to change him and when it fails he will be cast aside like eveyone else that's traveled that road.

There are 3 guys that would NOT be on my draft board...anywhere...not even within" mistake distance". DB Jenkins is one, LB Vontase Bursich is another, and WR Streeter is another (reminds me of Troy Williamsons "hands". No way I want any of them nearby.

I watched a workout Streeter was doing, on t.v., where a QB throws passes, while the receiver runs patterns.....Streeter DROPPED 2 or 3 out of 4 balls thrown to him. Reminded me of dropsy Williamson, that's why I don't want him at all. Some things can be taught, but soft hands isn't one of them.

We used Chubbs and rainbows during the beginning of the week and the bite seemed to transition to leeches later in the week.

not too bad at my place, but they are starting to come out. about the only time they get abundant is when I pull my skeeter out of the garage.😁

Shamrock Landing and Grubens marina have both sold minnows/bait in past years, not sure about current season

I am not aware of anywhere in the west basin to get minnows. Hopefully I am wrong.

The only place on the East end (unless i'm mistaken and don't know of some semi-secret place) that sells minnows on the lake is the Casino bait shop on Everett Bay. Whether they have rainbows is hit and miss. I'm not including Timbuktu as East side   Getting off-lake, the best value for rainbow for me over the last 10 years has been Lucky 7 in Virginia.

was up at the lake all week, water temps 65-66 today, and the crappies are now spawning. did not try for walleyes this week, but got my eye on a couple of lakes.

On the south end...   Good fishing this week with nice numbers of walleyes and saugers.   A jig and frozen emerald shiner again this week is the go to presentation for walleyes.  Rainbows and fatheads are also working and it is nice to see what the fish want each day.   Various areas across the south shore are holding fish.  Most walleyes and saugers are being caught in 17 - 24' of water.  Anglers are anchoring up and vertical jigging. A quarter ounce jig in gold, glow white, pink, orange, chartreuse, or a combo of these colors tipped with a minnow worked well again.  Pound the bottom, jig it up in the strike zone, hold.  Trying shaking the jig and lifting it off of the bottom.  Any kind of weight will be a fish hanging.  Set the hook! A mixed bag while fishing walleyes include pike, jumbo perch and a few crappies.  On the Rainy River...  Some nice walleyes caught  this week on the river in 10 - 15' of water.  Typical spots such as holes, current breaks, weed edges and rocky areas all can hold fish.  There are 42 miles of navigable waters from the mouth of the river all the way to Birchdale.    Sturgeon fishing on the Rainy River is closed until the keep season starts up again July 1st.   The river holds good numbers of smallmouth bass for those interested in bronzebacks.  A lot of bass are caught by unsuspecting walleye anglers. Up at the NW Angle...  A great week of fishing.  As typical with guests staying at the Angle, some fish MN waters, some slide over into Ontario waters.  Both areas are producing.     Points, neck down areas and bays with warming water have been holding walleyes.  With warming waters, fish are in transition and there are lots of fish.   The goto presentation is a jig and minnow.  Gold, glow white, pink and orange are good colors.
