I think you could've taken any head coach, brought him in and won a few more games, it's irrelevant to me, we're not sniffing green bay or Baltimore anyway, it's a passing league and we are weakest in the secondary, it's just Viking voodoo if chilly were coaching the guys would've quit 3 games ago, that's Leslie's only feather in the hat or the players contract status. Fire him and bring in the next clown, then the next bum, then another bozo, we have to let the guy have a full season next year and then re-evaluate, we won't be sniffing the pack next year either unless Rodgers cuts his hand off. (Look at Indy)

Kind of off topic, but if the Vikings are going to leave they are going to leave.

BTW If they leave I will cheer for the Pack. grin

Frazier should get another year for sure unless the front office knows he is over his head. Everyone has to remember that good quarterback play can make a good coach look great and a horrible coach look mediocre.

Also Frazier was not handed the keys to a team ready to win the NFC North. Coaching in this league is hard when you have a rookie QB who takes time to adjust. Everyone and their brother knew they were going to run the ball with AP. Also, aside from a pass rush the Vikes D is not what it used to be and the Vikes were playing from behind a lot(Secondary is horrid). Playing from behind if you have a stud QB is fine, but plays into the hands of the opposing D coordinator who knows the ball will be in the hands of your rookie QB, with a limited understanding of the play book.....not good.

Give Frazier time, if they do not show improvement next year then we can talk. If the Vikes were in the AFC west, they would have the division wrapped up by now.

Dear Santa, All I want for Christmas is to never have to watch another Viking game coached by a game named "Les"! These guys are putrid and pathetic!

Sincerely,

Lawdog

At some point you almost can't blame the players. Who is bringing these players in to MN. If you have terrible players your going to have an obscenely terrible team. If you put in junk what comes out?

Maybe MN needs a change in the Front Office:

George Paton Director of Player Personnel

Scott Studwell Director of College Scouting

you are all dwelling on the bad. Don't forget that the Colts won today! QB Luck is closer to Mn the way I see it.

The Vikings are too gutless to draft a QB next year (even though they should) because it would expose them even further that they never should have taken Ponder this year.

Draft a QB lmitout? What a great idea, lets put another QB behind a line that can't protect him, lets pair him with slow, sub par wideouts that are constantly reading the defenses wrong and can't get any separation. He should really make a difference in that small, underperforming d line, slow plodding linebackers and a defensive backfield that couldn't start in the CFL. Gutless? with a team that needs so much more to even being remotely competetive is a ridiculous statement. This team needs a strong commitment from the top to the bottom to get out of this situation and a new QB next year isn't going to do squat for the team next year.

So then you agree with me that drafting Ponder last year was a huge mistake.

Lot of CB's and other decent players switching teams during the free agency period this fall. Where were the Vikings in all of that? Nowhere.

Just further reinforces the point that Leslie and most, if not all, of the front office need to go.

Nevertheless, if a top QB is there when they draft next year you take him and then start working the phones, but some way they'll screw that up too.

I agree with the draft and trade, absolutely, although I don't think Webb was any better a choice. It begs the question why Frazier is being given a free pass with this kind of record when other coaches with far better records have been or will be given the axe this year. It still holds true that you win with a strong running game and a good dfense even in this pass happy league.

Maybe take a page from the Lions. Look what they did when they finally got rid of Matt Millen. I don't think you can blame Frazier or the players at this point. The player personal management has not given the Viking organization a chance to be competitive with the lack of talent that they have brought in.

Some changes need to be made higher up than Frazier.

I wish I didn't like watching the Vikings so much. They need so much help it's incredible. O-line, WRs, secondary, and the list goes on. If it weren't for Peterson, Allen, and Harvin, I wouldn't watch.

I will say that the "Triangle of Mediocrity" should be put by the wayside and have a clear GM (With a plan) start making the decisions regarding free agency and the draft.

This takes any favoritism or "buddy system" type cr@p out of the equation and probably would have removed us from the McNubb debacle also.

just sayin'

I'm pretty sure I heard that Ponder only practiced one day last week (not this past week, but the week before when we played Detroit, so like 10 days ago). I'm pretty sure he only practiced on Friday, and Frazier still gave him the start. I didn't understand that at all. Sticking with your guns is one thing, but hitching your wagon onto a horse just to watch it fall over the cliff is another. Frazier is too stuck in his ways to ever be a good head coach.

The front office needs to go. Spielman likes to look good in front of the camera but he sure hasn't been available for comment this year. Funny how these guys go underground when they see a complete failure over the last 3-4 years in the draft.

I'm 50/50 on Frazier...just don't think he has much to coach. Frazier just doesn't come across as THE "guy in charge" though...his stock is falling fast. I'm 100% on Spielman and Co. and they ALL need to go.

Wasted draft picks, and I mean WASTED draft picks that these guys blatantly told us what they were doing. Remember two years ago when they were drafting "out of position" players and calling them "athletes"...that there were no "weak" spots or opportunities to make the 52 man roster??? Remember that...I do. Well, they should have been drafting O-Lineman and Defensive Backs/linebackers instead.

The Viking's are a joke right now...the arrogance of the past 3-4 years has got us here. That arrogance needs to be shown the door...now!!!

I think Frazier has done everyone a favor. The Vikings have many, many needs before they even think of a division title. They need receivers, Dbacks, and OL, and more Dbs who can play. I would seriously think of trading down unless you are so sure you can get a can't miss player. Even then, you have to look at the value your pick has. Because of the new rookie wage scale that value has increased. The Vikes may be able to turn that high pick into a OL, and a couple of Dbs and still get a decent receiver in the 3rd round.

I would also look at your timeframe for being competitive and if you can't see yourself winning the SB in 2 years, I deal Peterson also. Just my 2cents.

When you are in the top 3 and need as much as the Vikings do you keep your pick, its going to be a good player. All the mock drafts have the Vikes taking Kalil, O.T. from USC. he is probably the best non quarterback in the draft this year. That solves one of the lines problems but so many remain. The Vikes have to draft really well this year or they are going to be mired in mediocrity for years to come.

unfortunately, I think you are right. Moving Peterson might be the best play, by the time we are competitive again, he will be past his prime. His value is high now...get some picks, or a solid young player in a position of need.

If the Vikes can get Kalil, Blackmon, or even Luck, they have to take them, these are players that will make a impact on the team. Other then that, I think you trade down, and try to get a mid 1st round pick, and maybe get Floyd, Barkley, Claiborne, or Martin. I would be happy to get anyone of those players. But if Luck, Kalil, or Blackmon or still there, you would be crazy not to take them.

I don't see Luck coming to Minnie. You can surround a mediocre QB with an even better offense and still win the big game.

Anyone remember Trent Dilfer? wink IMO he was somewhere south of being a "good" QB but still got a ring.

I'll agree that Peterson is also our biggest bargaining chip right now. He's at the top of his game. While we're at it, put Webb out there for the taking.

Dilfer and likely the best defense I've ever watched. Brad Johnson and likely the 2nd best defense I've ever watched, oh yes Jimmy McMahon and the bears. Of course we have the purple people pukers and couldn't get it done with our QB with 4 chances at it.

I think those times are changing. Starting in 1993 every SuperBowl winning team has had a very good to great QB starting for them, except the Ravens and Bucs. The Ravens had an unbeliabable defense with great running game. The Bucs also had a great defense.

I think you need a great QB now in the NFL to win a SuperBowl. Look at the good team this year, Saints, Patriots, Pack. My pick would be for one of those 3 teams to win the SuperBowl.

With Peterson and Ponder getting hurt in a game they shouldn't have played in, It's time to cut Leslie loose. Send the mess to LA or anywhere else that will have them.

Might not have to wear ear plugs when I mow!      That’s a spendy one.  It wasn’t hard to find one of those for $6k.  Comparatively and Ariens of the same size is $4,200.  A home owner grade JD for $3,900.  You could get into a commercial grade Z700 for maybe $8k.   I think the work I did today with mine would’ve killed that one there.

On the south end...   This year's MN Fishing Opener weekend was not only great weather wise, the walleyes and saugers were caught in good numbers.  A main fish gut hauler working with a number of resorts commented it was one of the most productive opening weekends he has seen based on the amount of fish guts collected after the weekend. The goto presentation was a jig and frozen emerald shiner.  Emerald shiners are a staple in LOW and walleyes love them.  Other minnows worked also, but emerald shiners are a favorite of anglers for good reason.   Four Mile Bay held good walleyes in 12 - 18'.  Not a surprise as the walleye bite on the river during the spring season was good and as of late, sturgeon anglers have been reporting catching walleyes on sturgeon rigs.   The Lighthouse Gap area, Morris Point Gap and just in front of Pine Island held nice fish in 12 - 15'.  Across the south shore, 18 - 22' was holding good numbers as well.  As you can see, there are lots of fish around.     A quarter ounce jig in gold, glow white, pink, orange, chartreuse, or a combo of these colors tipped with a minnow worked well.   As a reminder, the limit of walleyes and saugers is a combined limit of six fish, up to four of the six can be walleyes.  All walleyes between 19.5 - 28.0 inches must be released.  One fish over 28.0 inches can be kept.  The possession limit in MN is one daily limit of fish. On the Rainy River...  Some nice walleyes were caught on the river this weekend, although most anglers hit the lake.  10 - 15' of water was the norm.     Sturgeon fishing on the Rainy River has been excellent.  The catch and release season continues through May 15th and then closes until the keep season starts up again July 1st. Up at the NW Angle...  Some nice walleyes were caught in 18 - 25 feet of water, a little deeper than anticipated.  Points were good as were areas with structure.  The morning and evening bite was best.       As water continues to warm, go to spots for walleyes will be neck down areas, shoreline breaks, points and bays.     The goto presentation was a jig and minnow.

I found this dock wheel floating in Black Bay. If it's yours or you know whom it belongs to, go and grab it.
