Yep, it's definately nice being a Packer Fan. Something you don't see in most NFL organizations. Sadly, unless we get a new stadium I won't ever see my season tickets. There are pros n cons to this deep love we have!!

I put my kids on the packer season ticket list when they were born. They should get tickets in about 45-50 years. Crazy.

The Packers better get their secondary woke up! The whole defense looked more like a slalom course when Peterson was running and the secondary looked like Larry, Moe and Curly the 1st half Ponder was passing.

If they couldn't score basically at will the outcome of these games would certainly be much different!

Good Luck!

You guys are all more optimistic than me. I think that the Packers will win by 7-10 points...

I was close!

There are a couple of changes worth noting:

1) Rodgers and the offense are building up leads earlier than last year, so the defense is constantly battling QBs that are slinging it around to come back from behind.

2) Our D-line took a hit in losing Cullen Jenkins. Neal hasn't played and nobody else has stepped up to fill the void. Jenkins was great against the run and took up blockers in the pass rush. Raji is playing well but is clearly taking up more special teams this season and nobody else is making the plays.

3) Collins was the real deal at safety. I like Peprah a lot as he's a reasonably solid safety - nothing great but good. Collins and Peprah worked after Burnett went down. However, Peprah and Morgan is a work in progress. Those two dictate how the defensive backfield works and neither can hold a candle to Collins' leadership and play. Burnett may get there, but he's definitely not there yet. This impacts both our run and pass defenses.

4) The cornerback position has taken some hits this year. Woodson is a year older, and all of you who are older than 35 know how much each year takes away from your athleticism. I'm not saying that he's done or washed up, because he's still great...but he's starting to lose steps. Add on Tramon William's shoulder injury and there's one guy who hasn't been stepping up to make the tackles - still pass defending well though. Shields also hasn't been as dynamic as last season and now has a concussion. Jarrett Bush is a good dime CB but not a nickle or starter.

5) As for linebackers, Hawk isn't having quite the same season as last year...although Bishop is playing better than last year. Outside of the first game against the Saints, I haven't seen much out of the ROLB position from either Walden or Zombo.

#96 for the Vikings kicking people in the junk, nice. Just about wraps up their season. Really, your laying on your back and you decide to kick someone in the groin, then your players give you a high five on the sidelines. WOW crazy

From Robinson:

“Any time you do something like that, you regret it. But it’s kind of like I explained to him, I wasn’t going for the nuts"

Really dude, you knew exactly what you were doing. It was a dirty play. Admit it.

Lang may have deserved a slap on the head, we'll never know, but to do that to a guy is just downright dirty. Lang did look like he was kicking(nudging) Robison first, though. Still no excuse to go for the nads.

As for that the Robison/Lang incident, I replay it right after it happened. Robison got a huge jump, Lang and the other lineman shoved him backwards and Robison fell on his back. Nothing dirty there but Lang did swipe Robison's legs away as he was going down. As Lang approached, probably to talk smack, in the zoom you can clearly see Robison start a kick, realize that he wasn't on target for the sweet spot, then pull his leg back and place it right in the baby maker. It was cheap and got attention because it was clearly on film, but that stuff probably happens once per week in the NFL somewhere. At least the two guys at the center of it put the issue to rest right away.

  • 2 weeks later...

It's much better to address defensive problems when you're 8-0 than when you're, say, 2-6. wink

But I agree. Unless they get their heads our of their arses, there'll come a time when the Pack's defense will write checks too large for the offense to cash.

And that could easily knock the Pack right on out of the playoffs.

it didnt help jordy tried to swat that onside away just throw your body up there take some hits and keep the ball

That's easy to say from the bleachers. I read Jordy's comments and know what the coaches teach...he did it right. He went for the catch but when it took a high bounce just before reaching him, he made a quick decision to knock it out of bounds since he couldn't field it cleanly.

The defense sure didn't look great. The defensive line is in sore need of some life and needs to put more pressure on opposing QBs. That said, a great TE will cause a lot of problems. Even though Gates looks tubby these days, he still gets open and makes lots of plays. I'm not making excuses but just pointing out the tough task that the defense had. The defense is also in a tough spot in general because teams quickly get into catch-up mode, abandon the run, and are slinging the ball all over the field.

It certainly doesn't look like a championship team but at least the offense is setting the pace so far.

And that's a hell of a thing to say about a team that's 8-0. Worst thing is, it's true! C'mon defense!

Those of us whose teams have won so many Super Bowls/championships understand just how crucial a strong defense is. gringringrin

Looks like Zombo strained his hammy and is out for the Vikes game. He has been snakebitten this year. They sorely miss his pass rush.

On the positive front, Neal got the OK to start practicing. He will be limited at first. He definitely could help the pass rush if he can get on the field.

Yes the Packers stock is worthless as stock. And even tho the team is publicly owned and stock was sold for stadium upgrades I think there was still a county tax levied for that purpose. I recall it just barely passed...even in GB.

By the way altho some will correctly say the stock is worthless, others would say it is priceless.

Capers really dialed up the blitz. Woodson might have a future as a D Coord.

Very true. Woodson can't lock any one down anymore, but is still a ball hawk. He basically just plays rover in the middle of the field, and disguises if he is covering/zone/blitzing.

3 games in 9 days is a brutal stretch. The Bucs @ Lambeau this weekend, then I still think the Motor City Kitties are going to give them a run for their money on Turkey Day. The Bears are suddenly looking like the team that went to the NFC Championship game last year, and the Giants have a pass rush that could disrupt the Pack's passing game. Three very losable games. Plus the Lions again at home the last game of the year. Lots of work yet to do!!!

Man, that was close. Wasn't hard to find the Packers' weaknesses (mostly defense) when Rodgers had a down day. Glad we got the W! blush.gif

I love having those down days with 299yds passing, 3 TDs, 1 int, and 28 on the ground.

I'll take that as a down day any day smile

10-0 baby, Go Pack. I can't wait till Thursday, one set of in-laws are Lions fans.

Yeah, I did smirk a little when I typed in "down." What's down a bit for ARod is what most other QBs aspire to. gringrin

It's the durn defense that keeps giving me heart attacks! shockedshocked

With the early ice out, how is the curlyleaf pondweed doing?

On the south end...   The big basin, otherwise known as Big Traverse Bay, is ice free.  Zippel Bay and Four Mile Bay are ice free as well.  Everything is shaping up nicely for the MN Fishing Opener on May 11th. With the walleye / sauger season currently closed, most anglers are targeting sturgeon and pike.  Some sturgeon anglers are fishing at the mouth of the Rainy River, but most sturgeon are targeted in Four Mile Bay or the Rainy River.  Hence, pike are the targeted species on the south shore and various bays currently.   Pike fishing this time of year is a unique opportunity, as LOW is border water with Canada, the pike season is open year round. The limit is 3 pike per day with one being able to be more than 40 inches. All fish 30 - 40 inches must be released. Back bays hold pike as they go through the various stages of the spawn.  Deadbait under a bobber, spinners, spoons and shallow diving crankbaits are all viable options.   Four Mile Bay, Bostic Bay and Zippel Bay are all small water and boats of various sizes work well. On the Rainy River...  Great news this week as we learned sturgeon will not be placed on the endangered species list by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.     The organization had to make a decision by June 30 and listing sturgeon could have ended sturgeon fishing.  Thankfully, after looking at the many success stories across the nation, including LOW and the Rainy River, sturgeon fishing and successful sturgeon management continues.   A good week sturgeon fishing on the Rainy River.  Speaking to some sturgeon aficionados, fishing will actually get even better as water temps rise.     Four Mile Bay at the mouth of the Rainy River near the Wheeler's Point Boat Ramp is still producing good numbers of fish, as are various holes along the 42 miles of navigable Rainy River from the mouth to Birchdale.   The sturgeon season continues through May 15th and resumes again July 1st.   Oct 1 - April 23, Catch and Release April 24 - May 7, Harvest Season May 8 - May 15, Catch and Release May 16 - June 30, Sturgeon Fishing Closed July 1 - Sep 30, Harvest Season If you fish during the sturgeon harvest season and you want to keep a sturgeon, you must purchase a sturgeon tag for $5 prior to fishing.    One sturgeon per calendar year (45 - 50" inclusive, or over 75"). Most sturgeon anglers are either a glob of crawlers or a combo of crawlers and frozen emerald shiners on a sturgeon rig, which is an 18" leader with a 4/0 circle hook combined with a no roll sinker.  Local bait shops have all of the gear and bait. Up at the NW Angle...  A few spots with rotten ice, but as a rule, most of the Angle is showing off open water.  In these parts, most are looking ahead to the MN Fishing Opener.  Based on late ice fishing success, it should be a good one.

Nice fish. I moved to the Sartell area last summer and just thought it was windy like this everyday up here? 🤭
    • Rick G
Crazy windy again today.... This is has been the norm this spring. Between the wind and the cold fronts, fishing has been more challenging for me than most years.  Panfish have been moving in and out of the shallows quite a bit. One day they are up in the slop, the next they are out relating to cabbage or the newly sprouting lilly pads.  Today eye guy and I found them in 4-5 ft of water, hanging close to any tree branches that happened to be laying in the water.  Bigger fish were liking a 1/32 head and a Bobby Garland baby shad.   Highlight of the day way this healthy 15incher
