Predictions for Vikings Season.

AP, Percy, Allen, K-Williams, Winfield, Greenway, they are the great players on our team, then we have some solid guys, and then we have some that are absolutely junk.

I didn't agree with running that wildcat twice in a row, not in that situation of the game.

I've always said I think we have the worst covering LB's in the league, they can't cover. Our safeties are pretty bad also. We'll get shredded in the pass game this year I can't believe we are going with the safeties we have out there.

Only week 1 though, no one had us winning this one anyway, we could of won it, we should of easily won it actually.

AP is overpaid!

The contract he signed is absurd.

Not at all worth that kind of money.

With McJunk at QB the Vikes are doomed.

The offense was uninspired and very bland and boring.

I agree with you James, but atleast he did take a pay cut to stay where he wants to, a solid football team - I give him props for that. That's something that doesn't happen in the NFL very often.

AP will rush for 2,000+ this year.

I think the way the offense is, AP should have a good year. I just hope that they do not over use AP.

He will rush for 2,000 yards but McNuggets will throw for 2,000 and 15 TDs and we go 6-10 ...

Get a top 6 pick though

I think you nailed it! Not a big Mcnugget fan.

It's Possible to be 4-1 after the 1st 5 weeks though!! I'm a optimist, and say we Beat the Bucs, get an ugly win against the Lions at home, kill KC at KC and then anither meatgrinding win against the cards....Anyone else see this?

nope, I think the Bucs are better than they showed Week 1, and walk out with a victory... and i'm seeing a non-ugly Lions win at the Dome:)

Id like to know why people think he'll rush for 2K?

I think someone has been listening to too much Paul Allen.

I've never once said he'll rush for 2K...that being said, would it suprise you if he did...and why?

We will know alot more after today. But if they come out with a W today i dont think what you said is to unrealistic.

McChunky probably has 5 weeks at best of keeping the seat warm before the fans have seen enough a demand the start of the Ponder era.

Yes, because he's never been close.

And with that said, the burden of proof is on those who believe he'll hit 2K.

I'll ask again, why? What has changed that would cause him to rush for 550 yards more than his season average to hit 2K?

I'm not saying he will rush for 2000...

but you asked for a reason. We don't have a gun slinger quarterback this year, which means more runs are likely. So it could lead to more yardage.

Where do I cash in my bet that the Vikings pee it away in the second half...mark my words this won't be the last time it happens. Keep on losing fellas, then we can get Luck.

Go figure, Washington is 2-0 now with out mcjunk and we are 0-2 with him....

Why do we keep recycling garbage instead of getting our own guys ready to play?

So...anybody still want to stand by their predictions that the Vikings will win ten or more games this season?

My optimistic prediction that they might win seven was indeed too optimistic.

They certainly are in the race to win the Andrew Luck sweepstakes.

I think that is the plan, has to be, no other explanation for giving it to Gerhart on 4th and 1 crazy

Uhhh, what? Half of those non-conference games are against 2010 playoff teams. In fact, I think that the Vikings will be lucky to start any better than 0-4. They can't beat San Diego. The Bucs and the Chiefs were playoff teams last year and are both on the rise. The Lions are a team on the rise as well but have much better talent than the Vikings at this point. Those are four hard games for a team with new leaders at almost every offensive position (except AP) to win.

First win of the season might be against the Cardinals in Week 5 but both teams will have a 50/50 shot at winning. Just being a realist. Now, my gut tells me that the Vikings will get a win before going 0-4 but there's no logic that one could use to back up that statement.

....and all of you purple drinkers that LAUGHED at me for musing that the Vikings could go 0-4. It's called realism! The Vikings WILL be a good team towards the end of this season, but with all of the new staff and schemes they are certainly working out all of the bugs. However, I'll be happy to wrong about the 0-4 start because the Vikings should beat a Jamaal Charles-less Chiefs this coming weekend.

Looking at the Vikings schedule and I see maybe 4 games they can win. They may get lucky and scratch out 5 wins this year but I'm thinking 3-13. Ugh.

I think that it's worth looking at potential. The Vikings have a good team and whether it's with McNabb or Ponder, they are likely going to put up some points. The team needs to find its identity to start playing complete games. That's why I don't think that all is lost. I still think that the Vikings will end up with 6 wins but they'll be towards the end of the season.

However, history is not on their side:

Quote:
ESPNIn Week 1, the Minnesota Vikings led 17-7 at halftime and lost 24-17 to the San Diego Chargers.

In Week 2, the Vikings' 17-0 halftime lead over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers vanished on the way to a 24-20 defeat.

And Sunday, they watched as a 20-0 lead over the Detroit Lions evaporated into a 26-23 overtime loss.

Those turns of event have dropped the Vikings into their own special niche of NFL history. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, they are the fifth team ever to start a season 0-3 when leading at halftime in each game.

The chart identifies the other teams and illustrates how their season ended.

BAD START

Year____Team________________Final Record

1998____Chicago Bears_______4-12

1987____Detroit Lions_______4-11

1970____New York Giants_____9-5

1931____Chicago Cardinals___5-4
