The sign for the aerator just went up last week and the aerator appears to be on the far side of the lake from the access. You can see a bunch of stakes marking out a large area.

it doesn't look to bad out there. I drive by it everyday going to and from work. it seems like there is more traffic out there in the evening. reports I have been hearing is that the bite was mostly crappies and walleyes. if you are worried about getting stuck park at the access and walk out to the group. they are just right off the access straight out from it.

I would not recommend taking a car out there. I almost did last weekend and was glad my brother called and suggested a truck instead. You might make it, but you might not. There is probably 6+ inches of snow in spots and getting out of the access back onto the highway might be a problem too with a car.

It's only a 500' walk out to the community. If you do decide to drive out you shouldn't have any issues driving straight out to the community, just be sure you can make it back out of there.

Lots of 8" crappies in Dean.

went out there last night with my coworker i took my car out there i was better to drive my car out then leave it in the parking lot more snow there then the lake not a problem at all getting off. Bite was very tough, by 6 almost everyone had left the lake, caught maybe 10 between the two of us all 6" or less very small fish other guy we talked to said the same thing nothing of any size at all.

Yea they dont plow the parking lot, or it wasnt when i was there. Better off driving on the lake, i made it out easily with my car last weekend. Seems to be some smaller crappies to be caught and a few gills mixed in.

Ha ha. grin

I was out in the silver/red wheel house in a blue Chevy Suburban. (Just on the other side of that white house) Didn't see your car out there but might have seen your buddy drilling holes before you got out there. My other buddy was in the Blue Clam with Gold Silverado. He also reported a catch of only a few small crappies.

I'm going to move the house to Buffalo Lake this weekend and try a few walleye holes that don't see much pressure. Dean just isn't cutting it for me.

He was asking me if that was a good place to set up. I said sure, I did not notice how close he was to the wheelhouse until he set up. I did not want to tell him and make Matt feel bad. I have talked to the guy in that house, I did not think that he was going to be out that night anyway.

By the way Tsande, what the heck do you mean 8" crappies? My biggest was not even 7 1/2. Most were 6". Think I am going back to Buffalo, maybe an eye in that lake at least instead of the Dean dink crappie and sunnies.

Sounds like the same reports all around! I tried Dean for the first time and I sure didnt find any 8 inch crappies. Very slow fishing and very small crappies. I've definitely had better luck on Buffalo and Pelican.

lol - You guys make it sound like an 8" crappie is desirable. What difference does it make if it's 3" or 8"? Either way we're talking dinks. As much as I hate fishing Pelican and Buffalo, at least there are keeper size fish in those lakes.

Trust me they are there I've limited out the last couple years on sunfish and crappies, just have to hit them in the right spot and right time of winter.
