Truck through clearwater.

No idea how they would get them out of that deep water. My understanding is that the insurance company won't pay out for the vehicle and that there is a serious pollution charge from the DNR when your vehicle goes through as well.

I've always thought the ins co did payout for that, but I could be wrong.

As far as getting it out. Shouldn't be too big of a problem for an experienced wrecker. There are a few ways of doing it. They will need a cold water diver to go hook it up. Then they will most likely use 2 tow trucks (maybe big ones) and both pull, one on each side of the hole. The other way is to use a giant lever to get it up over the edge of the ice.

There are also giant pontoon rigs, but I've never seen any of them around here.

And finally, depending on how close to shore, they can pull it underwater up the banks and try to cut out a hole near shore to pull it though.

Depends on your ins company.

Mine pays for damage to vehicle and to pull it out. I believe it is only once in a lifetime that they will pay. I think I would be on my own with the fines from the dnr.

BJ's Bait shop has been plowing a road through there the last couple of years. Not really sure what he's thinking? It is never safe through those narrows. You might be on a nice plowed road one day and the next day??

Well you seen what happened.

I have seen a car lifted off the bottom with air bags, dragged to the landing with a boat, and pulled out of the water with a wreckers winch once. Kind of a neat thing to watch.

If you have full coverage on your vehicle your comp coverage will pay for the truck and removal. We had several that we paid out over the years. One was on Mille Lacs, total cost to remove and total the vehicle was over $35,000.

As one of our claims people said, we do insure stupidity....We had one go through Pearl Lake several years ago. 1978 Ford liability only. Owner was repsonsible for the total bill $1900 to remove it. Our commercial auto policy is different than private passenger, coverage on the ice is only afforded to the policy if it is endorsed as a seperate coverage. Good luck stay safe.
