Report from Thursday - Saturday

We Fished Thursday Through Saturday morning on the Hillman Road. The Waskish Minnow Station put us on a good spot. The best time was from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. The best lures were a red Lindy Rattlin Flyer with a minnow head and a dead stick with a bare red hook/bead and a minnow hooked through the [PoorWordUsage]. We marked quite a few fish but many of them were "thangs" (small walleyes) or non-biters. Doc had a few fish about three feet of the bottom that attacked his jig when he moved it up to them. Maybe crappies??? It worked best to rattle them in and then they hit the dead stick. Smaller fatheads worked the best with the cold front. I think if we had some crappie minnows along it would have worked even better. We had a nice meal of fish plus took our limit home, got a visit from a conservation officer (nice guy), and had the propane gell up on Thursday night when it was minus 42 degrees. Thankfully we had the spare tank in the vehicle that was warm enough when Doc switched it over (I held the flashlight and complained about cold fingers when he was manning the wrench without any gloves). grin He will,I'm sure, remind me of that. cry

The CO did tell Jon that you guys were the friendliest people he had checked on the lake. laugh

It was an interesting conversation you guys had while I was visiting.

shaky, "Oh, missed another one.

Doc, " Here could you put this one in the bucket for me.

LOL I asked him how the anglers across the lake had been doing and he replied "slow but you guys have a lot of happy people, especially those two goofballs in the green shack."

I think that his sensetivity was a little off....I am not sure what was in that glass, but I am pretty sure it wasn't water. Jeremy was impressed with you guys though, in most fish houses everyone is drinking out of plastic or styrofoam, but you guy's are drinking out of glass glasses! Good to see you this weekend. I am going to try to get back in a couple of weeks, maybe run into you then!

Nice to see you guys also. I'm glad the bite picked up after we left. I told Doc you would appreciate us removing the net we had between your house and ours. grin Glad to hear you got your vehicle started also.
