Poles n' Holes Fishing Derby

Recommended Posts

Just wondering if anyone is planning on fishing in the derby on Feb 12? Looks to me in the rules that portables, flashers, and two lines are out unless u buy two tickets. Might be a good time but guessing unless its warm might not be any fun sitting on the ice for 3 hours without shelter.

Not sure if I'll fish in it but I will for sure buy a raffle ticket. Looks like some pretty nice prizes.

My wife bought me a ticket so it looks like I will be fishing in it after all. It should be interesting.

After January 31st, tickets can only be pruchased on the ice the day of the tournament. $35.00 Not sure if I can post their website, but it is for charity, do a search for icefishingdl dot org..

I read the rules, and saw nothing about the use of flashers. Just no shelters.

got ahold of one of the derby's contacts named Nate and he stated that all electronics are allowed, no rules against them, camera/flashers are good to go

Man what a great day on the lake. There 626 folks fishing. They weighed just over 110 fish with most being small sunfish. The winner was just over 2 lb northern. I think he chose the 10 grand over the pickup lease. The area to fish was pretty poor as it was primarily 8-9 ft and weedy. I marked fish all day but could not the little buggers to bite. Still a fun day.

626 is alot of people! I unfortunately had to go down to the cities early sat afternoon but made it a point to drive by to see how many people were out there. It looked like a zoo but im sure it was alot of fun.

I was sitting next to the guy who landed a 5" musky. We gave hime [PoorWordUsage] all day long. It was fun day on the ice, should have brought some sun block along, as I got a nasty sunburn on the ulgy mug, which hurts, but hey it was fun anyway. And if you compare it to the Alex tourney, with several thousand people, and NO fish caught, or the Devils Lake tourney with 4,000 people and 6 fish caught, or the LOW tourney with 2000 people and 3 fish caught, I would say the haveing over 100 fish weighed in says a lot for the lake it self.
