joneshat11,

I was just going by what I read on the NAIFC rules website which were the only facts available to me without actually being there. Anyway, I'm glad you detailed how the organizers did the fish transport and weigh-in. Thank you. grin

My goal was not to upset anyone, but to drive the point across to anglers reading my post that the DNR can not stop the spread of exotic aquatic invasives ourselves. We need the help of all those that use our states lakes and rivers. I hope you all agree.

Ken, my partner and I got 5th. It's a fun tournament and everyone will learn more about fishing while taking part in one of these than they will in 5 years of fishing alone. These guys are truly the best fisherman in the world and some have the hardware to prove it. It was a first class tournament and a very good representation of the Monticello community was displayed.

congradulations on 5th place its nice to see locals do so well , there are alot of very good local fisherpeople and im not saying the tournement wasnt or wouldnt be fun or that you couldnt learn any thing out there ! what i am saying is you dont have to hold a pro (ego) title to be an excellant fisherman or woman and you most certianly dont need any hardware to prove it (just a well fed cat in the wood pile LOL) and one would lead a very shelterd fishing life if he or she did not learn something each outing !I highly dought id learn MORE at one tourny than in 5yrs of fishing alone the key to success is KNOWLEDGE and you do not need a title or hardware to prove this . im not trying to take anything away from THE PROS just some of the few i know and have known are all talk , yes very good fisherman but mostly EGO and i am not into that sort of thing ,

Noodle, you are right there can be a few ego's at these tournaments but believe me some of these good guys really out weigh them. It's really what drives the kid seminars at these events to show others that it's not about the tourney but about education we can get from everyone involved. I just want to make sure these ego's aren't ruining a really good thing because NAIFC does more fishing that it ever does take.

wtg... Anyone can keep panfish alive in a bucket.... The offsite weigh in was a dumb idea..

The weigh in at these events is much more like a bass or FLW tournament style vs. a local tournament with a piece of tag board and a marker. They have a big screen TV to display the results, computer set up to document everything, and a PA system. It was a very nice set up. Plus, being offsite enables the anglers to get a hot meal and beer and get out of the cold. This also brings in significant revenue to the selected establishment. I thought it was top notch and very professional.

Congrats on your 5th place Lawrence. Didn't mean to ignore you on the initial post. I have fished and hunted with Ben Blegen for many years as his father is one of my best friends. The NAIFC is much more than a fishing circuit. Their goal is to widen the exposure of ice fishing. Ben has learned so much from the other competitors in the last 2 years. While some have ego's it seems that most are darn nice guys. Not very many are making a profit on the circuit and most are doing this on a shoestring. Example- Juan offered teams a place to stay at his house. From what I can see it is a class act. Again, Congrats to those who competed and continue to enjoy this sport.
