well i found out this past weekend my gf can saw a hole better then i can so hopefully my buddy can cut mine better then me to and if so ill have him cut yours . there will be plenty of people there and lots of ice saws you will get some help with it.

Hey guys, I am thinking about coming to the GTG if that's alright. I would like to meet the people that have been giving me all the advise, and I haven't been spearing in probably a month.

Are most of you going to be there Friday and Saturday, or just Saturday? I am trying to figure out when I should come down and if I will need to find a hotel room. Can't wait to stair through a hole for a few hours, and see how the pros do it.

I should be there friday I have a relative Ill be staying with I believe merk will be there about the same time I will, I know one other guy that will be staying at sakatah bay resort in waterville, the guy who owns the place is a blast to talk to and he may even come to the GTG.

This sounds like fun. I haven't speared a northern since the mid 80's when we used to go to Perch lake by Truman when I was in High School. I work about 4 miles from there so maybe if anyone wants to show my 10 year old son how it is done I might bring him over and let him check it out.

No comment, I drilled 12 auger holes.... thru all that Ice and I cut a an 1/8 of the hole!

i was out there last thursday friday saturday. biggest was 40" 14 pounds the only reason i speared it was its gills were cut and hanging out the gill plate. one side of the gills were all white and not working and the other side was nice and red like they should be. obviously cut by a knife.

my buddy said it could have been from some one braking there line and the hook getting in the gills but i dont think so. that fish was obviously having a hard time. i have seen other 40's in that lake go 21# easy.

does anybody know who long a pike could live like that? i hope i never catch someone cutting gills. i would probibly be in prison.

i got bad news for feb.5. its the big bobber ice fishing contest. the west wood access will be a zoo. we might have to fish off the north access. not a big deal we will work around it.

the contest is by the access that i am using now. i think we will meet at the access on the north end of the lake. i havent speared over there yet this year but i talked to a guy that got a 41 there last weekend and saw a bunch more fish.

we had a good day on washington yesterday and a good day for the fishing derby.

i speared a 35" fish that went 10lb 8oz for first place

3 of my buddys came out and ran tip ups. they had 3 flags from 3 till dark. one was 31" fish that went 5lb 6oz and took first for angeling pike.

dad got a 24" walleye yesterday morning that was a pig. i think 5 lb 8oz. he will chime in if i was wrong on the weight. he took first for angaling walleyes.

so we ran the table for the fishing derby!

all i can say is we are going to have a blast on saturday. there are a lot of fish moving where im at now. i will post pictures when i get more time.
