Snail lake and Boy Scout contest

Recommended Posts

I'm thinking of entering my oldest in this weekends contest. I have a few questions.

Will I be able to drive on the lake with our gear, or will we have to park on shore and pull it out? Trying to determine which shack and how much stuff to bring.

If I can drive out is the ice ready for a SUV?

How clear is the lake, would it be worth bringing the underwater camera? I'll have a 3 year old and a 7 year old with so the camera would probably keep them interested.

I drove by it yesterday and saw an f-150 out there and a few permies. I would guess you could drive a SUV out there no problem.

I would bring the camera too just for fun. Haven't fished the lake in a year or two but it used to be pretty clear.

I would be curious to hear how you guys do, could you post a report after the outing?

I drove my 08 tahoe out and it wasn't a problem. 6inches of white ice and 13inches of clear ice. I second the camera, my 3 & 6 year old love it when its right on the jig. Sometimes you can get both jigs on the screen. 2 birds..1 stone. And you might get to fish also.

It was a fun event. Many small perch all over the screen and on the flasher. My son caught the biggest fish overall and in the Tiger cub division. His 7+ inch crappie was the winner.
