Duluth Area Veternarian Recs?

Recommended Posts

Folks,

I'm picking up a Brittany pup at the beginning of March and am trying to figure out what vet to use. I'm looking for a no nonsense, a dog is a dog, kind of vet. Someone that knows what they are doing and is honest and reasonably priced.

Any recommendations?

I use the Superior Animal Hospital on 2 and I have been happy with them. They dont pressure you into things you may not want. We board our dog there all the time and they do a very nice job with that.

Over the years, we have found that the Moose Lake vet is just what we were looking for. Most others always wanted to sell fries with that. We have always been very happy with the "farm boy" additude they have.

For basic stuff, flip a coin. But for important issues, drive up to Ely and see the vets there. Best in the biz!

Three vets at the Ely Vet Clinic. In the 8 years we've lived here, we have had animals seen/treated by all three, and they are an outstanding team with a great support staff. All three vets (Chip, Jen, Peter) know their onions. Two are wonderful relating to the animals and owners, and one is a laboratory stud. In our years owning cats/dogs in N.D., Wis. and Minn., we've never found a clinic nearly as good.

I'm not telling anyone to make the drive from Duluth, just relating my own experience.

Actually there are four now. Stacey is the new one. Although, I can't speak much to how she measures up to the other three. You hit the nail on the head though. They are a top-notch operation.

Most people I have talked to in Silver Bay take there pets to Ely. I even know people in Grand Marais that make the drive.

I'll tell people to make the drive from Duluth grin

You would proabably make up the gas money in savings on the bill. The quality of the vets would exceed that value aside. I wouldn't bring either of our dogs anywhere else.

401TE, where do you live? I would suggest finding a vet that is within 30 minutes or less from where you live. Not to save on gas and to be convenient but in case your dog is in need of emergency care.
