20 Degree sonar dead zone

Ranckenstuff

Question

I own a Humminbird 595C that I have converted to use in the winter. I have been running into trouble picking up my jig in the same hole the ducer is in. Both situations have been moderate slopes from 17-21 and 28-31.

Is this normal? Possible bad ducer?

Yes, not a whole lot you can do. Your transducer will read its highest point. That is why they have narrow beam transducers. I remember fishing Otter Tail lake ones and having almost 8 feet of dead zone we were fishing a very sharp break.
