Where to stay?

My buddies and I are thinking about comin up this summer sometime and doing a 3-4 day trip, what resorts would you recommend. Only thing i care about is it has boat slips so i dont have to pull the boat out every night, something reasonably priced. Also when do they usually loosen up the slot limits? I thought last year was July sometime is that pretty average for when they do that?

Hunters has boat slips as does Appledorns. Both are close to good fishing early. If you go after June you probably want to hit the flats. There are many other options for resorts these are two I haev been to that meet your needs though. Agate bay is nice too but they have limited slips that are first come first serve every night.

The slots only loosen if there has not been too much harvest so that is not for sure but it is usually after June.

In addition to the resorts eyebjim listed I would consider Izaty's on the South Side. They have townhouses for more space if you need it - swimming pool, bar, restaurant, golf, etc. on the grounds. Go on VRBO (vacation rentals by owners) and there are a lot to choose from under Onamia, MN.

thats the website i was trying to think of but couldnt remember, thanks for the reminder. How is the musky fishing during the summer there? I guess i have always thought of mille lacs as a fall bite

I never tried musky fishing but there is good smallmouth action during the summer. We catch them when fishing for walleyes on the rocks. The only bad part about Izaty's - it is on the south side of the lake and a long way from the flats for summer fishing. If it is windy it makes for a long journey.
