Ya, I've been out in the west metro. Best tip I got for you today is I don't know of any lakes that are too cloudy to spear right now.

Don't worry about the cold. Setting-up gets you warm, and then fire up the heater! (..and HBS!!! )

Sounds like winnie has slush after the road to their darkhouses so getting past the end of the line is going to be a treat, I might just try next to where the hawgs have been seen.

Thought of spearing minnewaska in the past, but have never made it. Are there any areas that are better to set up than others? Any spots to look out for?

not sure about spots to look out for. this will be my second time spearin there. i am told to set up where they usually fish sunnies in about 16 ft of water. i will venture away a bit from the houses that are panny fishin. the lakes a bowl so structure doesnt change real fast. i usually go out on up beyond glenwood. theres a private landing in the cattails with a donation box. i believe its on hwy 29.

I was on minniwaska last year fishing sunnies and everyone that I saw spearing were mixed in with the pan fishermen and a few guys on the outskirts or the groups.

One guy that I talked with had seen 4 pike and had gotten one he was thirty yards for me.

I just went out of the puplic landing good roads last year but dont know about it this year.

Thanks for the info guys. I come up 29 thru starbuck, and it seems like reeds all along 29 but it seems to me that it is also pretty shallow a long way out in those spots so I didn't know where to start.

Start drilling holes, put a coat over your head and look down and see whats going on.

Or... you could do it like I do. Dig your hole, set your house and discover weeds are at the top of your hole then start all over again.
