Suffix 832 braid

Has anyone been able to try the new Suffix 832 braid yet or do you intend to try it in the Spring/Summer? It looks like a real nice braid. I'm thinking about trying it on at least one rod.

I will be running it this spring. From everyone I know that has tried it it is supposed to live up to the hype. I sure hope I can get it locally by then if not I will just order it online.

I had the opportunity to field test 832 last winter. We have been using the Hi-vis version now for approx 3 months in 6 & 10 pound test. My best unbiased evaluation is that it is a much tighter weave than FL or power-pro. IMO, it absorbs far less water of any of the hard lines and fraying appears to me minimal as well. It is now my preferred hard line of choice,but I still use mono as well. I have learned that the very best of anglers will never completely agree on line choice,there are just too many variables.Thus far, 832 has met my expectations,especially for cold weather open water fishing.

I just put it on my new baitcaster. I can't wait till open water to try it out. It looks and feels very nice. I'm sure i'll be in the yard casting in the next few days to try it out

I was casting a new fly rod in my yard last Saturday. I actually do it a lot. My neighbors have gotten pretty used to it. I get fewer strange looks now anyway...

By the way, what is that 8th GORE fiber supposed to do? Seems a little like a marketing gimmick to include it. How does adding that one GORE fiber to the 7 Dyneema fibers do anything?

Gore is hydrophobic, so even though it only makes up 1/8 of the line it should shed water. I've ran my finger down 832 and it feels a lot smoother than Sufix Performance braid as well. Spiderwire is also making a new line that is 50% gore fibers, and it will be similar, except it sinks. It probably will also be a bit weaker.

We had James Linder talk to our Muskies Inc club last week and he said it sheds water very nice. He also said he used it for a good portion of last year and it doesn't even show much sign of use.

I might spool up all my reels with it after I had Stealth snap on me last year!

I will be usein this all summer i like it so far im goin to spool up my laker rod with it today. Every other suffix product has never let me down dont think its goin to start with 832.

I have been testing the 6# out ice fishing this year and its worked fine. Doesnt seem to hold as much water. Time will tell. I really want to get it out this spring and jig with it. Thats what I really wanted it for.

I've been useing it the last couple days (6 lb) on a spinning reel casting spoons down at the French. Feels good, casts well...not quite as well as 6 lb. XL however. I haven't hit a fish with it yet, the no stretch on long casts is what I mainly want from it. It does seem to cast better than other braids I've tried.

Spiderwire is junk in my opinion. The Suffix 832 has performed better than I expected through the ice. Like I said I cant wait to try it in open water.

i finally got to give the 6 pound 832 its first test yesterday and i give it a thumbs up.

definitely softer out of the box than pp or fl and much "quieter" through the guides.

had it spooled on a 1500 symetre on a croix as63mlxf. bite was tough and really lite, but a couple of those subtle ticks turned into a 17" walleye and 17" sauger.

I tried 832 out on the river last week and was impressed, even with all the ice comming down stream. I first put about 20 yards of mono on my spool and then tied the 832 to it; using a uni knot. I used to think it was my reel's fault when I had a spool filled with just braid on a spinning rod and the stupid thing would slip. Later, I learned that when braid contracts,sometimes it simply won't grab onto the spool. If you aren't comfortable with the uni knot, simply wrap some electrical or similar tape once or twice around the spool before filling your reel. The tape gives the braid something to dig into.

Depends on how your intending to fish for your bass. Also, remember that 12lbs 832 is going to have a way smaller diameter than 12lbs mono line so you can go much higher on your strength.

I can't speak for 'eyes but for bass, I typically use 20lbs braid for general use with a floro leader tied on. If you're getting into the thick stuff, upgrade to 50, 60, or more as needed.

I've caught quite a few eyes while bass fishing on 15lb braid. I don't think 12lb would be too much line at all. Just remember it's no stretch, so set your drag and choose your rod accordingly.

I spooled up some 10# Sufix 823 on my Frabill Ice Hunter 38" combo's early last fall and have been using it all winter on the ice.

What I found so far this winter is it works very well on the ice with it's resistance to hydration.

It carries less ice into the guides and into the reel spool. It is quieter running through the guides than most braids. Very pleased with it overall. I see no notable issues with line strength. It appears very wear resistant. Knot strength is very good.

I found I like it better than the Sufix Ice Braid as it appears to me to spool better.
