Riley Lake Eden Paraire

Ice walker

Just wondering if anyone is fishing this lake? What are the ice conditions and what kind of fish are people catching?

Don't waste your time, lots of small panfish. Maybe find a decent sized pike along the South Western shore line.

I know they were planning on doing a carp cleanup like they did in Susan a few years back. That may be taking place soon with these frigid temps. The carp numbers in that chain is really high.

Went out to Riley today, boiled up some hotdogs and had lunch on the ice.

We tried to setup on deep water looking for suspended crappies.

We didn't see much, some fish tight to the bottom in about 30ft.

One guy only caught a few tiny perch.

Were we wrong thinking crappies would be deep now?

Lots of people out there in the "normal" spots, wonder if they are catching anything.

I hit it yesterday for my first time. Drilled 25+ holes in several different locations. Near houses, away from houses, 10-15 fow, 30-40 fow. Nothing but tiny sunfish and perch. Stopped at another nearby lake on the way home and satisfied my fix with a half dozen crappies and a few sunnies.

I wonder if that carp harvest last year has anything to do with the lake now.

Susan was done 2 years ago, and there was hardly anyone out there last year. Now this year there was a TON of people out there earlier in the season, and still a lot out there now.

Although we didn't catch much there either.

Wonder if the lakes need a couple years after the carp harvests to get back.
