We tried before. Water clarity of the lake isn't great for underwater camera. They could be the reason why these fish are scattered and they're so big.

Whatever they are, they sure making fishing tough during the dark hours.

Out there this morning. Caught 1 nice crappie and 1 nice gill. Lots of lookers but not biting. Kept the fish in water and threw back when we left.

Plankton. It could insects and baitfish during the day, but it is plankton after dark. There is no lack of food in this lake which in turn could lead to a tough bite some days.

Monday we kept a few nice gills and crappies, one interesting note was one fat crappie had 4 small gills in it's stomach. Note to self, pic a jig/spoon that is about the size of a half inch sunnie.

A northern I cleaned from this lake a couple years ago was stuffed with 3 to 4 inch sheepshead. It's interesting to hear about little sunnies in a crappies gut, who would have guessed???

just thought I would give my thoughts on the things you guys have posted. i live right here, fish right here on this whole system. up til about 4-5 years ago you saw schools of fish, then came the outdoor news write up and people immediately pulled their house off rush lake and came here. And for most of them they caught lots of fish! Last year was the most pressure I have ever seen on pokegama and cross. these lakes cannot sustain that kind of pressure. Now this year, after many did wso poorly last year, there are about 1/5 the houses on these lakes. The fishing this year for me has been awesome! I dont fish near anyone, and am willing to drill a few more holes to catch fish. The schools are now packs, and the size has deminished. Also there is no night bite on these lakes as some of you have already realized, and yes bug hatch. good luck guys

Welcome slabber to the forums. There may not be much of a night bite out there for panfish but the walleyes will bite at night in certain areas after dark.
