I was out on Pokey from 12/31/10 to 1/2/11 with the permanent house and also brought the portables. On 1/1 we ran the whole lake with the portables without any luck, actually the whole weekend was slow but the kids had fun. We were marking fish all weekend but not a lot of action, 2 pike and a few crappies was all we managed. cry

How is the ice on pokegama?

I was out last night.

15" good ice.

Best fishing after 5 pm.

Getting them to bite is tricky.

Ive seen a lot of small cars out there i drove my volks wagen yesterday because the keys to the truck are in cali right now lol. And leroy i do not keep everything all the crappies were 10 plus and sunnies i have an 8 inch minimum but it seemed my spot turned to [PoorWordUsage] though me and my bud went and only pulled out 35 fish for 8 hours really tight lipped but we were only 5 under our limit for crappies but it was a good time

Plenty of ice and relatively little snow...driving is nice, was out in my suburban today. Limit of nice gills and four crappies...during the day.

I was out at a western suburban with my landcruiser towing a trailer Monday. This ice made cracking noises as I drove around the lake looking for a good spot. Kinda scary.....

I wonder if the ice up north there are thicker now or not. I was only getting about 15" of ice.

Yeh, but it sure can be fun up there if they are agressive. I think we need the weather pattern to staighten out and it will be hammerfest again

In my opinion i would say right as the sun comes up a little before though to about 3 but i have done ok right at sunset. i tried at night here about 3 times did not work to well for me at all but it all depends on the day and where you fish i guess good luck!

I may head up there sat myself. Sounds like we are moving into that part of winter where you most likely will do better...the further away from the crowds you are. You can catch fish almost anywhere on that lake...ya just gotta keep moving.

There was a night bite early season but that night bite is all done.

Was doing good with waxies/larve early, but am doing better with minnows now.

The crappies seem to be spread out and not "schooling" up or hanging on to structure.

In my opinion this year seems to be very odd. (slow) Maybe I've lost a step or two ? frown

Every now and then I'll find the finicky buggers, but come back the same spot tomorrow, and they are gone.

If you can catch two or three fish (9 inch or better) an hour you are doing good.

More than a few times this year I have fished pokegama and left with two fish after three to four hours of fishing.

I'm starting to get "that look" from the wife when I get home. confused

Just my experience. Hope some of you's are doing better.

Everywhere.

Clapps, south of Tux, east of tux, west of island, north of island, south of island.

I have been moving around, mostly fishing drop offs or humps.

Depths from 12 ft to 24.

I think that's the only reason there's still decent fish in a lake with as much pressure as pokey gets. Since you can't just go out and set up on the same spot and hammer fish all year, most people don't do very well and either don't come back or just hope that the fish come to their area and do good once in a blue moon. Even the guys that know the lake really well only do good most of the time. It's a weird lake like other guys have said, the fish can be just about anywhere.

Got out for a bit this morning..found fish, they must have all been females because they were not in the mood. It was all C&R today, had I been keeping I would have kept 8 nice gills. No crappies today.

This is a very weird lake. For some reason, crappies do not school in this lake. You get one here and there but not a whole school like some metro lakes. One thing I noticed about this lake is there are baitfish/fries sitting at the very bottom almost everywhere you drill. During the day the baitfish/fries are pushed to the bottom but towards the evening, they come up and just flood your flasher making it impossible to fish.
