Last week was about fishing new water for me. Went down to the mankato area to try a few lakes. First lake we set up in about 13 FOW, which was about the deepest we could get out since walking out was very tuff. We fish the spot the whole day from 8 till 5. Lots of small fish caught, we did manage some bluegills and 11 inch and 9 inch white crappies. Used a lot of different lures. The best being T.H.E. jig and a bro Bloodworm.

On sunday a few of us took off for a different mankato area lake. We got setup in about 25 FOW. Got a late start. Right away managed to pop a 17 inch walleye that was chasing some bate fish. We also caught a 11 inch white crappie and a few other small black crappies, with some white bass mixed in also. Again a very long walk out that did not quite get us in the spot we were looking for but we did mark fish all day long. We fished from about 12 to 8pm. Caught the walleye on a pink and white T.H.E. Jig. Best producer was anything tipped with a minnow head.

Will be giving these 2 lakes a go around this weekend though and this time will be bringing out the sled so we can get right where I want to be.

I went out with a buddy yesterday morning from 8a-1p and managed to catch a nice meal of crappies in 17 FOW they were suspended 3-4 feet off the bottom. Presentation was very important today. Color of the jig made all the difference in the world. Also dead stick out fished the jiging pole about 4-1. What a great day on the ice, very easy walking around, no sluch for a change!!! Good luck to everyone out fishing this week
