cartway,

No wonder I could not find any garbage out there the other day!

Thank you! Good job cleaning up the blocking and other debris left out there this winter!

Both the East Two Rivers and the West Two Rivers are now wide open this morning! That is a very good sign that Pike Bay will be ice free within a week or less! Big Bay usually follows suit within a week after Pike Bay opens.:)

Cliff, Talked to a friend that was past Jammer Lake in Britt yesterday...He said the lake was open! Hopefully with some nicer weather we shouldn't be long now!

Jim,

A lot of the smaller lakes in this area are also open or mostly open.

Pike Bay is not far off now! It is supposed to get in the upper 50's or lower 60's the next few days and that will get rid of a lot of ice quickly!

I do not think that Big Bay will open until early May now.

I don't think you'll be going very far by the weekend Jim. Even with the warm temps and all that wind Pike bay is still not open all the way. Snow expected for Tuesday, won't be melting much ice tomorrow. Still think it will be next week some time.

Got a report that Pike Bay was ice free this morning! Will check to be sure this afternoon.

UPDATE

Just got back from checking at Hoodoo Point. There is still an ice flow out there half way between Whisky Island and Hoodoo but it is mushy and broken up now. It should be gone by tomorrow for sure!

Really nice to wake up and find the lake looking like this in front of BayView!! Opening weekend is just around the corner, we have a great band "Payback" lined up for both Friday & Saturday! Also if you haven't made plans for Mothers Day we have a brunch buffett going on all afternoon! Docks will be going in Sunday possibly, stop out and do a little pre-fishing :-) See ya soon - Erik

Thanks Erik!

Looks great!

Pike Bay is ice free and Big Bay looks to be close when looking out from McKinley Park Landing!

Still a lot of ice on the northside of Ely island, but it won't last too much longer. Looks like the 1st or 2nd may be the iceout date in Big bay. smile

Put the boat in around 10 am on friday at the hoo doo point access and drove out to the ice, it was just beyond birch island and the north side of ely island. I am sure with the wind on friday afternoon it went much beyond that. And with the rain coming in, should be gone by sunday or monday!
