107LB thrust Motor Guide bow mount for.....

My step dad has a 2001 Champion walleye boat that had a 107LB Motor Guide bow mount on it. He hasn't used the boat much and the trolling motor has got hardly any use at all. The trolling motor was brand new with boat in 2001. My step dad wasn't good with the foot petal at all and I told him about MinnKota's new I pilot with the gps and hand remote and he was all about that and bought that and put it on his boat. One of the few times he took the boat out this year, we were using the trolling motor for doing a controlled drift while lindy rigging and all of a sudden we lost some steering control of the motor. The cable that is in the foot petal that control steering came off the track somehow and that is why it doesn't work. The guy that does all the work on our boat didn't look at it but we told him what happened and he said you can sometimes get the cable back on track, or else you need a new cable. Not sure how much that costs but my step dad just bought the new MinnKota and gave me the Motor Guide to do whatever I wanted with. I don't really have a use for it because it is 36 volts and I have a little 16ft Lund and theres no way I would ever have 3 batteries in my boat.

The MotorGuide is 107Lbs Thrust and 36 volts. It is the "Tour Edition" and has hyper drive. Here are some pics of it

Like I said, I don't really have a use for it, so I'm wondering if anybody wants to trade for it. Things I would be interested in trading for are:

-work done on my 1978 35hp Johnson (had a leak in lower unit somewhere. had seals replaced this spring and lower unit oil was milky when i changed it a couple weeks ago. there is also a problem with the electric start)

-a 55lb (or somewhere around there) bowmount trolling motor. preferably 12volts

-a used (in good condition) depth finder/GPS for the boat

Also willing to listen to any other offers.

How long of shaft? I have a 2002 minnkota powerdrive 55lb 12volt. It's in decent shape. Works great. I may be interested but my boat is in storage until april

i just went out in the garage and did a quick measure and it was 51 or 52 inches. are you interested in it? it takes up a lot of room and i dont really have the room in the garage to store it over the winter

BUMP

motor is still available if anybody is interested. I am more or less interested in just getting rid of it, as I will be picking the boat up from storage soon and won't have room to store it in the garage. Anybody who is interested in a trade, let me know what you have to offer. I'm interested in anything from rod/reel combos, rod holders, a 40-55lb bow mount, gift certificates, planner boards or other trolling stuff, etc.

I also found 3 lazy Ike's and 5 old dare devils I would be willing to trade. They both work excellent for pike and such.

I hunt in the rifle zone so I don't have a need to use a shotgun to hunt deer, but I would be looking at this if there was ever a need to.   There could be state legislation introduced next summer that eliminates the shotgun zone completely.  It has bipartisan support.  Wisconsin removed theirs years ago and MN is usually later to follow.  They've tried to pass it more than once and it came up just short both times.  Probably just a matter of time.

      Screw that, here's whatch need!  😆   Power-Shok Rifled Slug 10 Gauge 766 Grain Grain Weight: 766 Shotshell Length: 3-1/2in / 89mm Muzzle Velocity: 1280

20 ga has become a real popular deer round in the last 5 or so years.  The rifled barrels are zinging those sabot slugs with rifle like accuracy out to 100 yards easily.  Some go so far as dialing in for a 200 yard shot but really, by 150 they’re falling off pretty low.   I have a single shot Ultraslug in 20 ga that shoots really well at 100 yards.  Most everyone I know that has bought a slug gun lately has gotten the Savage 220 in 20ga.  Problem can be finding the shells you want.

My son always bugs me about getting a nice light over-under 20ga for grouse hunting.  I say Heck no, I'm getting a 3 1/2" 10ga so I can put as much lead in the air that I can!!     So, I'm keeping my 12ga.

That’s almost exactly what I was thinking.  Have slug barrels for both   One for turkey and one for deer.      I have a 20ga mosseberg as well. (Combo came with the scope but never used.   I always liked the 12 better

Wanderer is right on the money and covered it well.  I was wondering too if you had a slug barrel for one of your guns?  If so you could make that your slug gun with a scope, and the other your turkey gun with the Red dot.  As you can afford it.

Kinda depends on if you want magnification or quick target acquisition.   More magnification options and better accuracy with a scope.  You get what you pay for too so get comfortable with a budget for one.  Tasco and Bushnell work but I find they lose their zero easier, have low contrast and don’t gather light well in low light conditions.  That said, I’m still using one I haven’t replaced yet.  Vortex has been the hot brand for the past several years for bang for the buck.  Good products.  Nothing beats Swarovski though.  Huge dough for those.  Burris is another decent option.   There are some specific models for shotgun/slug hunting in the economy brands and bullet drop compensation (BDC) reticles.  Based on experience I’d recommend not falling for that marketing ploy.   Red dots are usually lower magnification and easier to get on target.  Reasonably accurate but don’t do well with definition, like searching the brush for your target.  I put a HAWKE red dot on a .22 for squirrels and it’s been good.  For turkey, that’s probably the route I’d go.     If your slug shots are normally not too far and too brushy, I’d think a red dot could work there too if you’re only buying 1 scope.  You’ll be better off dimming the reticle to the lowest setting you can easily use to not over shine the target and get a finer aim point.   If you don’t have a slug barrel, you might appreciate one of those.  I had a browning with a smoothbore slug barrel that shot Brenneke 2-3/4 inch well.  The 11-87 would well fitted with a cantelever rifled barrel.

Looking for recommendations on scope or red dot    I basically hunt turkey and whitetail, live in southern MN. So it’s all deer/ shotgun    looking to add a scope/ red dot as my eyes don’t work like they used to to with the open sights.    my gun options are 11/87 12. Browning BPS 12    not looking for the most expensive or the cheapest    pros and cons of one over the other

That's good news. I haven't seen any ice in Black Bay yet, but it looks like the small bays should start to freeze up this weekend. Hopefully we make some ice next week.   Below is the forecast for Cook. We should have temps mostly below zero . The bottom section below shows that it should not be windy, and no snow is predicted. All good signs for making ice.
