Camera question

Is it a bad idea to put my camera on the tree that a buck is scraping next to. Will it scare the buck that is making the scrape? The ony reason I ask is there is not another tree around it.

What do you guys think? I have a dripper over the scrape and the buck revisits the site, just want to know who this buck is.

I don't quite have the funds to update my camera, so I still have the "old-fashioned" film and flash trail camera. I put it out a couple weeks ago, facing a trail. I came back to find one pic taken. Funny thing, there was a fresh rub done just behind the camera, two feet away! After that I moved the camera and got some more pics on another trail. I brought the film in for processing (not many do this anymore, Walgreens does) and of course, a nice 8 pointer is the one pic taken at the first site! Not sure if the flash took the image before or after the rub, but that rub was pretty much right next to the camera!
