I'm going to enjoy rooting for the Bulls. After LeBron snubbed them I still thought they were the challengers with Boston. Teams should beat individuals. Chicago has the defense, depth, and cohesiveness to win the east. As for the Finals we'll see.

I don't pay a whole lot of attention to nba until playoffs and still don't watch a bunch but do pay attention to the scores. I just don't understand the hatred for Lebron. Of course he could have made less of a spectacle out of his move to a new team but I can't say I blame him in moving to a different team and coach where he felt he had his best chance of winning a title. I can certainly understand why people would hate a Tiger Woods for example, much more than Lebron.

Valid points Greebs but I still hate him!.... grin

I'll add coaching into the mix too. Tom Thibodeau is in an incredible coach, he and his staff clearly have the edge there IMO.

I use to play hoops occasionally against Mussleman, Thibodeau and other wolves employee's at the 98th street racket club when that was the Wolves practice facility the first year or two they were in the league. They used play in the pic-up game when they had some extra time on there hands...Mussleman as you know was one competitive SOB and hated to lose more than anybody, even in a pick-up basketball game against fledgling players like myself... smile He got so mad one time he went and got Tony Campell and made him play... grin

Looks like the home cooking is going to be really important in the East series. Great first game for Chi-town.

HEAT looked alot better last night. The Bulls made it to the rim plenty of times, but couldn't finish. I look for the Bulls to bounce back but it's going to be a close score.

I do like OKC and would be happy for them, but Dirk/Kidd are running outa time while Durant and Westbrook are young pups still.

Pretty good game last night. I think a heat mav final will be really good entertainment. I like both teams so should be fun to watch but first they have to close out the bulls and thunder.

wasn't it Miami that came back, down 3-0 or 3-1 or something like that, and broke the hearts of the Mavs the last time they got to the Finals?

Wow what a finish last night! I thought the game was over when the bulls were up by 14 with 4 minutes left but then the big 3 went crazy. Almost felt sorry for the bulls. Should be a great finals. Hopefully it goes 7 games.

yep. lebron looks like he enjoys playing on a team that has some talent where he doesn't have to do it all himself. makes him all the more dangerous. I know he's not well liked but given how poor cleveland was this year it makes you appreciate how much he did for that team when he played with them and made them a contender.

I still can't figure out why people not from Cleveland hate Lebron? He did his "decision" show that wasn't the greatest way of letting down the fans of Cleveland but he did raise money for a good cause in the process. The guy is a stud on the court and you don't hear a bad thing about him off the court.....he will go down as one of the greatest all around b-ball players ever!!

Same reason Magic Johnson, Charles Barkley and a whole slew of other people not associated with the Cavilers hated on him. It was just a classless way to do it. Plain and simple!

The guy Rocks, to bad he had to take the cheap fake way about it like Garnett to win one but I don't blame them for that. Garnet had to he wasn't good enough to win a championship and Obviously Lebron was/is and would have.

Cause Smause!

when the going gets tough...........lebron hides in the corner. just a sad fact.

he's not a mentally tough competitor. The most talented (not the best, just the most raw talent) player in the world CAN NOT only score 8 points in the first 3 quarters and then hide the entire 4th quarter and expect to win.

Just for the record, 2 of his 8 game 4 points came on free throws on a play where he blatantly faked a foul when he never got touched. Jordan would NEVER do that.

That's why people don't like him.

tonight will tell us a lot about his mental toughness. one thing to keep in mind is he never said he was the next jordan.

greebs he didn't have to explicitly say he was the next jordan. As a side note Kobe has always hated that people called him the next Jordan, and I even don't like comparing guys to a legend that nobody will ever live up to.

But he assumed the role by being the most athletically gifted player to ever play, signing mega-million dollar contracts and endorsement deals, airing "the decision"...face it you're only paid that much to win championships. Jordan did it. Kobe's done it. Lebron? we'll see...

Kobe had Shaq, Jordan had Pippen. Up until now Lebron has had.... Illgauskas? Gotta give the guy a chance. No superstar can do it by himself. Really, other than "The Decision", which was stupid, has Lebron EVER done anything to make you not like him?

Kobe won in 2009 and 2010 w/o shaq, and Rodman was a bigger factor in '97 and '98 than pippen was.. my point being that every superstar who ever won has had quality teammates. You're right, those cleveland teams didn't have the supporting cast.

And yes, lebron has done many other things besides "the decision" to make me not respect him as a true competitor. Just watch the video:

Losing to a 2-7 team at the half!!

41.6°F in Stuntz Bay Thursday morning.  Left my boat in the water to hopefully fish more before the lake freezes.  Caught four 9-11" walleyes in 2½ hours before I gave up due to the strong west wind.  Water level has not gone up more than a couple of inches at the most.  May be a good winter to jack my boathouse out of the water on the deep end.

The calendar migrators from the Dakotas have been passing through central MN in trickles the past few weeks, and the recent cooler weather has some Canada ducks starting to show up. We have been harvesting mallards, pintails, gadwalls, wigeon, shovelers, greenwing teal, canvasbacks, redheads, bluebills, and ringnecks in decent numbers.

It doesn't look like the lake level has gone up at all. I was up a week ago and struggled to get my boat in and out of the public landing on the west end of Head O Lakes. I used my paddle to push the boat further out to deeper water. I could hear the hull moving over the sandy/muddy bottom near the launch.

Pretty tough.  Was catching about 2 walleyes per hour and the biggest was only 13".  Back up Thursday so I hope I have better success.

On the South Shore...  With unseasonably warm weather, there are still some anglers hitting the water and most have been rewarded.  Limits of walleyes and saugers being caught, and the forecast looking ahead is favorable. The best bite on the south end of LOW has been in 22-28 feet of water. Water temperatures are dropping and as the temps cool further, the bite has been excellent.     Vertical jigging with frozen emerald shiners has been the program for most anglers.  Bring plenty of bait, as you’ll need to sort through some smaller fish and short biters.  Plenty of eater fish to be had, just have to do a bit of sorting.  Anglers are also reporting very good numbers of jumbo perch and occasional pike mixed in with the walleyes.     For those fishing structure, if you slide up on top of a rock pile, don't be surprised to catch a big smallmouth bass, there are plenty around.   This week’s hot colors have been gold, gold/glow white, gold/chartreuse, gold/orange, and gold/glow white/pink.     One tip, a stinger hook on your jig will catch you more fish if you start missing too many fish. On the Rainy River...  Bait dealers are reporting good numbers of shiners in the river this past week.  Interesting, each night is different.  Some areas have the small shiners called pinheads.  Other areas have the larger minnows.     The river is producing some nice walleyes in various spots from Four Mile Bay to Wheeler's Point, to Baudette all the way to Birchdale.  There are 42 miles of navigable Rainy River from the mouth to Birchdale with plenty of public boat ramps along the way.     Walleyes are being caught in various depths, but 15-25 feet of water has been good.   Jigging with live or frozen emerald shiners has been highly effective. Some anglers are also trolling crankbaits to cover more ground and find fish. Both methods are producing solid results. Sturgeon fishing has been strong.  The catch-and-release sturgeon fishing is open into the spring when it changes to the "keep season" on April 24th. Up at the NW Angle...  Fall fishing continues to be excellent. Points, neck-down areas with current, shoreline breaks, and transition zones from rock to mud are all productive locations for walleye right now.   It is traditionally a mixed bag up around the many islands in this part of the lake and this fall is no different.  In addition to walleyes, pike, jumbo perch, and crappies are in the mix.  A jig and minnow has been the most effective presentation. Good muskie fishing is the norm during the fall of the year and area reports have been good.  In addition to casting, trolling shorelines, points and neckdown areas has been effective.  Muskies are often targeting schooling tullibees this time of year. The weather forecast for the next couple of weeks is conducive for fall fishing.  If you don't deer hunt, or if you have harvested your deer, consider some bonus walleye action before the ice forms.  The bite continues to be excellent.

I'm not one to leave that to chance the day I need it.  I always check on my stands prior to the season.  Just like I always shoot my rifle before the season and I always run my outboard motor before fishing opener.  Too many things to go wrong without confirming it ahead of time.   I guess it could have been beavers but the house itself didn't appear nearly big enough along one ditch.  It was about the size of chair.  I've seen beavers houses many times before and they appear much bigger than that.
    • leech~~
Good thing you made a check run.  That would have really suked walking into opening day.  Why do you think muskrats and not beavers?
